Just hit 50, whoa all the stuff...

So, I just hit 50 today on CUL and caught up on the 30-50 quests (yay blue frying pan!) and unlocked collectables and got some level 50 HQ crafter gear made (though I wear the chef hat quest reward, because - chef hat). My FC-mates have told me "unlock Mogs", which I'll do next time I'm online. Aside from that, anything else I should be doing? It looks like there's gear in Mhor Dhona similar to the relic gear, but is pursuing that gear worth it vs just continuing to level and making/buying better stuff? Are collectables worth thinking about in the 50's, or is it better to just keep moving the other crafting classes to 50 while CUL Moogle's her way to 60? Thanks in advance!

First thing to do right away:

    Unlock Mogs.

What they mean, are the Moogle Quests in the Churning Mists. The reason for this is because Moogles are like Ixals -- they level your crafts.

There is zero, absolutely zero reason to mess with Lv50 stuff other than buying the master books for glamours and such. Best thing you can do is jump into the Moogle Tribe and get your crafts all the way up to 60 that way. Focus on one craft first (doesn't matter which), and make sure you pick up your important Cross-Class skills like Careful Synth II, Comfort Zone, etc.

Once you get your first to 60 you can start working on Zhloe's collectable turn-ins which you can use to buy Lv60 gear (get the tools first!). Don't buy the Lv58 set for red scrips; the moogles will sell that stuff for kupo nuts that you earn from questing there.

Once you get everything to 60, I highly suggest getting 61 and getting the Lv61 HQ crafted armor from Stormblood -- it is better than the Lv60 Blues you can buy with scrips AFAIK. Or a side-grade. Either way. Getting enough scrips to buy everything, armor included, would take freaking forever unless you did some red scrip turnins ontop of Zhloe's.

Beware, though, that eventually Zhloe will ask for Orphanage Donations, and these are difficult being that they are 1-Star recipes. Hopefully by the time she asks for these, you do actually have both tools AND the Lv60 armor set. Dinging 61 also helps a ton... once you ding 61 then those recipes are easysauce, even moreso when you get 62 (use Grand Company turnins or Lv61 leves).

    But ya.

Do Moogles. All the way to 60. It will take a little while, and if you want you can experiment with other stuff in the meantime, but Moogles are awesome. Oh, and Moogles also give you three bundles of 20 crystals of random elements (20 for each quest) so that will also give you a load of crystals if you take it slow like I did. I have 2k+ of all crystal types except wind (1600) and lightning (1800) and I just recently got my last craft to 60 (and Alc is 62).

Ok. So keep leveling the other jobs to 50 for the cross-classes while working CUL up to 60. Then get 60 gear with Zhloe. Then get the other jobs to 60. Finally run CUL to 70.

The level 50 end-ARR stuff is really only there because it was relevant at the end of ARR. If you've got expansions and are able to immediately start up on progressing further, there's no real need for the Master books, Supra/Lucis tools, or Artisan gear. Plus you get stopped pretty hard if you haven't also leveled your desynth, as you start needing demimateria towards the latter half of that content.

I say this from experience, since the only way I've found it useful at all is because I haven't registered expansions so I've been sitting capped at 50. It's a neat little challenge to make sure your skills are up to snuff, but ultimately a waste, considering how much progress you can make as you level higher.

The 50, star stuff is still some of the most time consuming gear to obtain, far more than even Augmented 60 due to the amount of ehcatl sealant required to put a set together. And you get a crafted set at 51. It won't take long to get 51 either. A few GC turn in's make a big difference. An HQ starred GC will melt half a level in one go.

Yes, getting the other classes leveled should still be on your radar as well as getting Culi to 54. That's when you get Muscle Memory and it's another strong Culi cross class.

    Oh and Gratz

Today was a pretty good day, given how little playtime I had. Got Moogle's unlocked and got from fresh 50 CUL to halfway through 51. Progress!

Now to keep pushing the others to 50, prioritizing CRP then ALC then WVR.

Question, are you doing the Ixal quests and turnins on your under 50s? Also your GC turnins? If not, do them, if so, good work.

As to gear, there is a L 51 crafting set. Look into it. Even NQ, available from vendors, its good enough for the moogle quests. The moogle quests are easy.

I'm all 67s and 68s crafting and still make things from the ARR master books, you might want to get them but there is no rush. They are the only worthwhile things in Mor Dhona from ARR but you can live without them.

And yes, Collectables are a good way to level and get red scrip for tools and gear.

If you haven't leveled your gathering classes you might want to do Miner and Botanist.

Yep. Do 3-6 Moogle quests a day to advance CUL (currently 56) and then the balance on Ixal (the storyline was pretty cool for them). For Ixal, I have CUL do all the synths for EZ-mode, then hand in on whatever the lowest level jobs are. Outside of quests, I do GC turn-ins and Leves. I skip on GC turnins for jobs where the materials are expensive unless it's starred that day. Progress continues, right now 2 jobs are 50+, 3 jobs are 40+, and 3 jobs are 35+.

Just got CUL to 60 last night because the Moogles and the Muffins are good like that. So wow, now there's even more stuff! It's crazy. Unlocked Zhloe, but haven't really looked into her stuff as I fell asleep immediately afterwards. I also had bought the full set of level 58 gear from Moogles, I assume the thing to do now is work Zhloe for scrips to buy level 60 tools? Or should I just power through 60 via Kugane Leves (also unlocked those) and find a crafter to make level 61 tools and gear? At this point I have ALC/CRP/WVR at 50, ARM/BSM in 40's, and GSM/LTW 39. So I have a decent amount of the critical cross-classes (CZ, CS2, BB, MuMe) while I push the stragglers towards 50.

I use Zhloe requests for Gathering scrips just because I can get crafting much easier and her weekly is 720 of either. If you do choose to get level 60 red scrip crafting sets, start with the tools, then work on the body. You might want to augment the tools as well. That combo will get you to 70 with ease. Partly because you don't really need to work on high end recipes in Kugane. You can mass produce an easy to make 60 or 62 and get upwards of 2 million experience from them.

You will also want to keep up on the class quests. They unlock a lot of the SB skills. It's true for DoL and DoH.
