Adventurer in need: completely arbitrary?

I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm curious if there is an explanation regarding the AIN mechanics that makes sense.Take the new Alliance roulette: are all raids in every level range taken into account by the calculations? Would this explain why, if DPS is listed as in need and I queue as a 65 MNK, the wait time is over 30 minutes, because only the 70 raids were short on queued DPS?

It's always been like this, for any roulette really. When I see leveling roulette Tank, and go tank it takes like 7 mins to pop but on heals its an instant invite in. So I always wonder lol.
When I go Mentor Roulette as Melee its usually 5 mins less then rng.

At long last dps have the change to be AIN.

Not sure how alliance raid queue works, but I have few speculations based on my experience with other queues. There are times I've had to wait a bit as a max level AiN. Sometimes, this is just because there aren't enough ppl, ex: queue as tank for main scenario and wait a couple mins for another tank.

It also seems like there can be a delay before the needed role changes. I'll queue as tank when a roulette says AiN tank, but occasionally the queue isn't instant. I'll then switch classes to healer and get an instant queue. I suppose it's possible DPS were no longer in need when you queued, but the AiN bonus hadn't updated.

Iirc AiN is calculated for all queues within the roulette also including direct queues into duties included in the roulette.
In which queue you will be placed is an complete other issue.
