Does SE not understand why people don't like the Goblet?

As I'm sure you guys are aware, they changed the Goblet design for 4.1. It used to resemble a natural oasis, and now... it looks like a Trumpesque Golf club resort.

They changed the only part people liked, The Brimming Heart, and left the rest of the crappy place the exact same. And I'm speaking as someone who had both my personal house and FC house in Goblet by choice(my world still has open shirogane plots, fyi). The new design completely ruined the atmosphere of the place, and I'm going move ASAP now. I used to defend it a lot because I felt like if they changed the outer ring a bit, it would be amazing. But instead the just took away all of it's charm.

Why did they do this without even polling people on what they liked about the Goblet, or disliked about it?

My fc loved how the new Goblet looked so much we entirely scrapped moving to Shirogane and got a poolside plot instead.

Obviously some people will like it, but I've come across a lot of people who already had Goblet houses who hate it now. :/ http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery...ng-details.jpg this is what it was designed to be, a natural oasis. This is what I liked. Nobody really like the outer bland stone walls, but they didn't even think of changing that. They could have made those areas into small pools to bring up the aesthetic value of those plots, but they left them the same and scrapped the jewel part.

It's impossible to please everyone. Players complained that only Shirogane had a swimming area so SE altered the other districts to allow for the same, now players are complaining that stuff has changed.

Honestly I think the Goblet has vastly improved since the update. Ul'dah is known for its wealth and love for luxury and up until the update the Goblet really didn't reflect that at all because it was so plain. It is still very plain on the outer circle unfortunately.

I feel like you are missing what I'm saying. I'm not annoyed they changed it, I'm annoyed about WHAT they changed. They did not look into what people liked about the place. The other places only change don the outer areas, slightly. Goblet changed in a huge way, in the center area that people loved. But they kept the boring outer area the same, so it ended up the exact same it's always been, The Brimming Heart if full and all the outer houses are a ghost town. Instead of changing the aspect people already loved, they should have incorporated the swimming and golden gilded lions to the outer rings.

Obviously it's too late now, I'm not starting some petition to change it, that's downright not going to happen. It's just really dumb that they scrapped the only aspect people liked in the goblet. :/

Honestly if they looked here, and they probably did, they would have seen most players considered The Goblet to be the least desirable of all for aesthetic reasons. It has often been called plain in the past. Whatever your personal taste is, you can't say the new pools/baths are plain.

Well this is your preference but I empathise. If your plot is in the Brimming Heart I can see how the change could bother you. You may have chosen the plot because of the oasis and now it's mostly gone. If the plot is elsewhere you can just not visit the Brimming Heart unless you need to.

I don't see what the issue is...did you NOT see the pool fit for royalty? Yeah, I wouldn't mind some other changes to the all around scenery, but you seem to think it looks worse. It doesn't. The pool area is a good start, maybe there'll be more. I have a house in the Goblet myself, and I'm curious to see how things play out.

Really? Because my issue with the Goblet has always been the sparsity of decorations, and that extends to the former pool. It needs more trees, flowers, water features and the like; and I personally think the new pool is a step in the right direction. In fact my ONLY complaint about it is that the rest of the static buildings weren't changed to match the updated textures. Hell most people I know of aren't fond of the Goblet for this same reason and are at least happy we have /something/ that looks better than all the other wards, even if it's only one small section. To each their own but I've literally never met someone who looked at the old pool in the Goblet and went 'this is good'. It was mostly 'this is the only tolerable part'.

I happen to really like the Goblet? My FC's home is located there, and will remain our first choice to upgrade when new wards get released.

I love the new pool, and would love to see more touches like it sprinkled around the rest of the housing area. Fountains, plazas, more splashes of desert greenery to break up the sandstone? Yesplease!

I honestly think that the biggest problem with the ward is that you're staring off into a vast sea of nothingness around it's perimeters, rather than some of the ambient scenery the others have.

If it were set up like a village built in and around a naturally occuring oasis / spring in the desert with a view of Ul'dah off in the distance on one side, and dramatic dunes & mountains (Think crazy windswept rock formations that turn pretty colors based on the time of day and the way the light is hitting it) rather than the yawning abyss that frames it, it might add to it more, visually.

Likewise, I like the Goblet. Being as most of the RP happens in Ul'dah anyways it's a nicer option to make some new friends there and bring them back home if you want to. I don't even mind being on the outer rim of the Goblet either, as my character is Ishgardian and the cliffside reminds him of home.

ALTHOUGH other RPers seem to take issue with my 1000% IC Paissa Mansion ....
