I wouldn't mind that. Personally I don't really require any functions from the retainer (for housing purpose) besides the ability to change pose.

They could code it so if your retainer is deployed you can't summon them from the bell but that's a lot of extra coding for no real reason.
I mean if your plot is near to a summoning bell, you can still summon them while your retainer is just standing a couple feet away.
