The Whale's Gape mysterious waters

Hiya, fellas of the LOC team! [And welcome back to the void from wherever you've been in the holidays.]

Recently, I've been in the Great secret area The Whale's Cape, to the west of the Slophouse in Mistbeard Cove, as part of the new event on the Lambs of Dalamud.
I'm still trying to do the event again just to go there, hehe.

Besides the very nice panorama and setting, to which I dedicated a big portion of my latest journal entry, I noticed that I could fish... but I could only do it with freshwater bait, as freshwater fares are found in there!



Since in front of me there's supposedly the sea, is there a reason why there're no saltwater fishes? Is it just “a bug”, as this is one of the closed-off areas, or is it intended, and maybe is there some lore-related explanation?
In the past, I didn't hide my interest in the last pirate king's story, and this, as an Explorer, was one of the places I've always wanted to visit, so any type of lore tidbits would be much appreciated.

Well, it's extremely rare you actually seeing saltwater at underground ponds because, even if connected to the sea, the water there very often comes from the source/spring, not from ocean. They probably took this into consideration when picking the fish type there.
