    First wipes tips

First time playing Healer in an MMO
Solo I'm good but duty time comes and I panic a little, so far out of all the main story Duty jobs I've had I've not had a death on my hands I keep the tank topped up and if the DPS is super low I throw a Cure to help out if the Boss is still going strong
I'm learning when to manage my MP and when to heal - How much Cures will heal the tank so I don't get ag
Getting CMDs pretty much 1 every duty if not 2-3 per
did the lvl 32 Duty - Brayflox Longstep
now IDK if it was just a combination of all of us but that last part we died 3 times. Tanks health 1 hit and as all the DPS health was massively dropping fast.
I go into panic mode and have to then just endure my own death because my raise is on CD.
they kicked the tank and got a new tank and finished it in 1 go so I'm not sure if it was me or the Tank
Any tips for a nervous WHM? I'm really enjoying it but..
I've looked up a few tutorials on rotations for WHM but they all state different.

Brayflox at level for a new healer is tough. Esp if your gear is just at level. I remember doing that way back years ago when I started and I'd say that was the hardest dungeon of the pre 50 dungeons. It made me almost quit healing.

Honestly just make sure your gear is the best you can get. Nervousness goes away with time and a lot of practice. I feel rotations for healing really depend on what youre comfortable with. Honestly from your comment, you just need more practice. That and it couldve been the tank too depending. Not every tank is a good tank. But Do not let it get you down. Try again :3

don't forget to equip esuna either (role action). It helps with the poison stacks in the end boss.

Oh thanks! I was so worried, it definitely made me think last night just going easy and finding a new class but I love my WHM so much!
I'll definitely keep the esuna either on hand! I'm glad it wasn't just me then with that Dungeon! I really thought I'd messed up somehow.

WHM is a lot of fun to start with. I started FFXIV as a WHM and loved it but, yeah, brayflox really makes you rethink healing. All the dungeons leading up to it are so easy then it throws some hard hits out and its like, wait.....what?! I wasn't prepared for that!

But it gets better. It does honestly get you ready for the dungeons ahead which will be heavier on heals as well (depending on the tank you get). You're already doing the right thing by looking up guides and such. so I wouldn't worry. You got this!

Don't worry, we've all been new once and you will get better and more confident with practice.

As silverlunarfox said, make sure your gear is up to date, and be familiar with your abilities. For healing, always keep Regen up on tank (just don't cast it before the tank pulls, or the enemies will charge right at you). Then use Cure I and Cure II as you'll have to (but remember you won't have to keep the tank 100% topped up at all times). When the damage seems low or most of the monsters in a group have died, don't be afraid to also throw some Aeros and Stones if you have some spare MP and everything's fine (DPSing is a vital part of healer play in this game, and the earlier you get to practice it the better, but don't worry about it before you get comfortable with the healing part ).

In panic situations you can use Presence of Mind to spam heals faster than usual (when that's not required, use it for some nice Stone spam!).

Of role abilities, cast Protect at the beginning of dungeon and then swap it to something more useful (Protect will stay on each party member even if you don't have the skill equipped anymore). Esuna is good for any dungeon with removable debuffs (such as Brayflox dungeon you mentioned), and then the next priorities are Swiftcast (for instant raises and heals), Lucid Dreaming (especially if you find yourself running out of MP) and Largesse (obtainable at level 40, boosts your healing power). Eye for an Eye gives you some additional damage mitigation (or has a chance to do that, anyway, the bigger the enemy group the more potential it has), and Cleric Stance gives you a tiny boost for your DPS.

If things are going wrong, look at your fellow party members. Are they standing in AoEs, not killing stuff fast enough, or not handling mechanics correctly? That's not your fault. Is your tank undergeared for the content you're doing? Is the tank not using any defensive cooldowns? Not your fault either. Healers tend to blame themselves for a lot that's not their responsibility. Just try your best, and acknowledge your own mistakes and try to learn from them, but don't blame yourself for other people's mistakes.

I appreciate this a lot, its definitely something I will remember with Esuna and Swiftcast.
I think its because I focus so much on the party bar - I should be looking over at the AOE rings too.
it's a LOT to think about! I went full deep end for sure haha

From my experience playing all roles, I think healer primary focus should be supporting the tank.. A good tank should be able to draw all damage attention to him/her except it's a global aoe, and good DPS should always avoid any unnecessary damage..

It's everyone's job to mitigate damage, because it can be hectic for healer to keep minding everyone's health and moving..

It's good that you learnt your each healing capability for MP and some times attacking rotation (just for fun)..

*inhales* THANK YOU FOR PLAYING HEALER. OUR QUEUE TIMES GO UP BECAUSE OF YOU!

In all seriousness, it sounds like you had a bad tank. Tanks/healers have it rough early on so don't sweat it too much. Really, I hated tanking until Lv60.

DPS get better at dealing and avoiding damage--they're not responsible for DPS-based raid wipes until, well, just about raids. Tanks get better at holding aggro--they're more responsible for controlling party damage, but focused DPS and strong heals can remove much of the responsibility.

As a healer, you get better at keeping people alive--but you're always responsible for the raid. Lv15 onward. As someone who's gone DPS->Tank->Healer, I think your role is the hardest.

Keep trying and don't let ragers get you down! You'll build muscle memory and sometimes lose it when you try something new. It happens; it's OK! You'll build up better habits and eventually even better memory, and soon enough you'll be a natural at it.
