Months?! As in not even a year? My FC wouldn't even consider promoting someone to access the third tab in the chest after only knowing them for "months", nevermind granting them actual admin housing privileges.

Any officer in our FC with access to admin housing and gil privileges have been in our FC for YEARS. 1.0 and early 2.0 days. It astounds me how liberal other FCs are with their permissions.

This is a sad story and I understand how disappointing it must feel. The guy has that on his conscience. I hope he enjoys his stolen house, lost friendship and ruined reputation.

With that said, I trust my FC buddies with my life, having known them all for years and years, and I wouldn't ever leave them with housing privileges; as much to protect them from making a mistake as to protect myself. Even my own RL wife doesn't have full FC privileges. Your solution wouldn't solve anything. Sadly, you freely gave him all of the tools he needed to abuse your trust yourself, and no matter how many safeguards S-E implements your choices would have been the same without hindsight. You've seen the threads here from people who click 'OK' in error on confirmation boxes only to post in horror after realising what they did, right?

I've been playing with some people since 2005 when we were in the same LS in ffxi and they still don't have housing and gil permissions lol

The money was his to do with as soon as you let him have it. People are terrible, usually.
Don't let a virtual theft upset you more than needs be – just learn from it and move on. Try not to take it personally; people will claim they know their FC mates – but ultimately unless you know them IRL you never really do - take heart in that nothing of any real worth was lost and don't blame yourself.

This is kind of like knowing someone for only a month, giving them the keys to your apartment, and then being surprised when you come home on day to find all of your stuff gone.

In fact, for that matter, it's more equivalent to meeting them in an online chatroom and then mailing them your keys and address without ever having actually met them.

You gave a person rank for the sole purpose of grabbing a house....and then let them keep it once the house was obtained? I'm sorry, but as bad as the situation is, you really are pretty much entirely at fault here, and no feature added to the game is going to fix that. My FC is super small and filled with friends I exclusively know outside the game, and even then I set up a rank specifically for housing, and then abolished it the second the plot was purchased, and I'm sure most people who went house hunting with multiple people did the same. It sucks that your faith was broken, but there's really not much you can do besides accept it as a (bitter) loss and try to move on.

I suggest you CALL customer support. I know of at least one person who has gotten a house back with similar circumstances but they had to call. Yeah, you messed up by trusting this person but I'm sorry this happened to you. The internet seems to bring out the worst in some people.

As to the suggestion you had, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of giving someone the power to relocate your fc. If the leader has to approve it, the leader may as well just do it themselves.

While your situation is indeed a sad one it isn't like people can't put on a facade for a long time and only show their true colors when they need to. You'll just have to be more careful who you assign rights to, that's all you really can do here. At the very least you could've made it so only the guildmaster has access to stored gil and given the gil needed to grab the plot to them ahead of time.

Humans are fickle creatures with a heart always wanting. No matter the age, gender, sexual identity, intent, how many likes they have on twitter, they are still human. I'm not saying their aren't good people in the world, but just far and few between. Mostly in the early baby boomers and the generation before from my own experiences.

The point is people will be people and I am sympathetic to your plight. Some value a fictional currency more than the friends they've made. He made a poor choice he will learn to regret eventually. It may take time for karma to get him back, but trust me it will. It always does.

Your fault lies in the "but I didn't " part of your whole story. You had the chance to protect your interests. You even point out that you were aware you were leaving a risky situation open specifically but you did NOT correct it. The ONLY time I trust people online implicitly is when i know them in real life and know where they live. My FC is full of great guys and I'd gladly do almost anything and/or sacrifice time/money/gil for them. But every time I use the FC bank to transfer I accept the fact that one of them could snipe me and yoink my stuff while I relog. If I need to transfer irreplaceable items or amounts of gil I ALWAYS use a real life friend.

I commiserate with your tragedy. That really REALLY sucks what that person did and I am sorry they did it to you. But the tools to prevent it were provided, you just did not use them.
