As someone who use RDM and WHM, I can both relate and not relate.

Pro: My initial job is conjurer, so my job is to heal the whole team so no one died. And when I used RDM in a high level dungeon I still feel uncomfortable with tanks with HP below 50%
And RDM can raise the healer in SB dungeons and trials if the healer(s) happened to be dead.

Con: RDM is a DPS and WHM is a healer. You don't switch the two because the healer is too lazy to keep the whole team alive and lazily casts the tank Regen while expecting RDM to support themselves.

I'll heal as RDM.
I'll heal when I can avoid tanks dying in O2S while I raise the two healers that just died when some dps were *supposed* to be bumped back.
I'll heal so I can avoid dying.
I'll heal when I can't dps, so I can proc a dual-cast, on myself on someone who needs it (think O4S, Light and Darkness, especially when someone have an emptiness debuff).
I'll heal in dungeons on yolo pulls when either the healer or the tank is struggling.
I'll even heal people I raised so they don't die again, especially in places like Rabanastre.

If we hit enrage, well, fail and die less, I'll heal less

The RDMs that drive other players up the wall are those who heal without good reason and to the detriment of their damage output.

We still waiting for the final final warning. It's a shame that we'll never know what gonna happens to RDM who not cast some heals to help healers so they could don't do their job anymore.
