Might not be the biggest, but it's still pretty dang big even after that...uh, mishap. Yeah, that's the world I'll go with since I'd probably get a forum ban saying exactly what I think about the expansion that nearly killed it.

It should, because right now WoW is outclassing FFXIV in just about every way except on story. The WoW story isn't even bad either it's just that it's on a more large scale instead of more personal. (Since wow does not have the story centering around a 'chosen one' kind of deal) I could go into detail but it's only going to start a flame war here and it's not hard to simply look up all the things added by the Legion expansion. Meanwhile FFXIV has a content drought going on for those wanting to gear up further because this patch adds absolutely 0 for them.

Needless to say though FFXIV would benefit immensely from some of the systems they added alone already. Take the keystone mythic system, it actually makes dungeons stay relevant and adds more challenge and variation to the runs. The whole dungeon system in FFXIV could use a rework though, just being able to teleport in and doing everything through roulettes (or just the one roulette) is not very engaging or rewarding, and it makes it feel disconnected with the world as well.

I don't think they are trying to turn XIV into WoW; but they can certainly borrow elements from each other, like all MMOs in the market. It's hard to "stay unique" when you have competition and some ideas might be risky. I do believe XIV has its own identity and really marked its place in the market, as it's praised by a lot of developers from other companies too. The job system, the way they handle raids, the crafting and gathering system, just to mention few things. XIV is its own game with its original ideas, but there's nothing wrong with getting inspired by other MMOs that did certain things that turned out to be great.

Just because there were a couple of threads suggesting these changes (Because WoW habe them), it doesn't mean that people want this game to become WoW. These ideas might change the game, and who knows, maybe make them even better than their competitor!

Trying to turn it into WoW? In case you haven't noticed it's ALREADY pretty much WoW-lite, from the re-release. So I'm not sure what you're trying to do here.
Complaints on an Internet forum?! What madness!

To be fair there are some things that WoW has implemented that make it successful and was brought over here and was able to cultivate this game even more so. Cross world PF for instance, WoW has had this system in place where FFXIV did not unless you did it the funky way in which you had people simultaneously queue for said duty and see if they popped at the same time(which this way wasn't very reliable, trust me we tried doing this by helping my friend get a clear in certain duties who was on a different server). All MMOs tend to take ideas from others MMOs to develop their own game, they snip out parts that weren't well recieved or maybe try to morph it into something better. That's what it is to invent in general, you borrow concepts and modify to make it better or something else entirely.

Sometimes i wish XIV had a unique system for relics. I been told it works pretty well in WOW.
I would also welcome a similar questline like in XI. Sure it was a long and anoying questline with huge moneysinks but I would welcome that, we have litterally nothing to spend on our gil on.

And if we keep talking about XI relic they were BIS for years because they were that good and was upgradable after they raised the level cap to 99

The only reason why Wow clones fail is because they don't bother to support the game after an initial release.
    Anyone remember Conan?
Or that one game that NCsoft made with that one high profile game designer, who used his money to go into space, and while he was out there, NC said they were shutting down the game.
The first star wars online game. Now THERE was something unique.

All things considered, there's very little about WoW that's original. What they ARE good at is cherry picking from other games, and even their fan base, and putting in things that work, and calling it their ideas. And overall support for the game. At least as far as customer service goes. Patches are another story...

Lots of features come from the mmo genre as a whole and not all inspired by one game. For example one of the most requested features in FFXIV was a glamor log or book to save the appearance of gear. WoW has this same feature now an appearance log but it took them 6 expansions before they added it. This feature was added in many other mmos before it. I am sure most of us who play FFXIV want a glamor log to be added.

I truly don't understand why WoW has always gotten hate for no real reason, even from people who never played it. I guess it's cool to hate things that are popular.

WoW DOES a lot of things better (even if FFXIV does a lot of things better than WoW), and don't kid yourselves, both are the same kind of themepark, FFXIV is hardly unique and "untainted" next to it. There's literally no reason not to take inspiration from the things it does better.

Like actual epicness in dungeons/raids, sure FFXIV looks beautiful, but where are the loud boss quotes ? Where's the immersive architecture beyond circular arenas on a beautiful backdrop ? Don't get me wrong, FFXIV still offers great presentation with its boss music and everything, but it pales compared to how I feel when I raid in WoW.

Also actually open areas with things to do ? Not just there for the MSQ ? WoW adds them all the time and stuff like the Isle of Thunder or the newly added Argus are miles ahead of any non-instanced content SE added in HW. I'm tired of having nothing to do beyond going into instances in this game. Just things to do at all that isn't crafting. WoW added solo challenges specific to the spec with Legion, I loved that. I also like that they often give something cool to some classes to do, like some rare pet taming challenges for Hunters or the green fire Warlock quest. FFXIV has the WHM unicorn quest and that's it. Even not bound to class, just look up the guides for the Lucid Nightmare mount or Kosumoth the Hungering. Pet battles are also infinitely more fun to get into than whatever LoV was supposed to be.

Maybe make the world feel more alive too and less mechanical ? More items to use for fun like gliders or transformative potions, less invisible walls, less clunky movement, etc.

And please, PLEASE, fix the server infrastructure, the "muh servers" excuse is getting extremely old. No true open world, no real inventory increase (something WoW has no issues at all doing every single expansion), no glamour book, no improvement to character creation beyond the billion hairstyles. I'd even take a long while of no content if it means the game gets better down the line.

I could go on and on. Sure, WoW does plenty I hate, like class streamlining, removal of content for exclusivity, titanforging, random legendaries, etc. but to say FFXIV has nothing to gain from it is either being a blind fanboy or wanting FFXIV to wallow in mediocrity.
