Meh if killing him gives more screen time for Krile, you know the Scion they introduced and then forgot about? Then I'm all for killing him off.
Arenvald isn't a new character, he's been around since 2.0. He just wasn't anything but a minor character until recently, to the point I thought he had died when Livia had attacked the Waking Sands.
Personally I'm seeing three characters with big death flags:
Arenvald, a full on ally of ours who is suddenly getting more screentime, who has some similar abilities as us but isn't as strong. Would probably die trying to help out in an area we aren't able to get to fast enough.
Fordola, who is being forced to see the pain of others and how she herself caused it in many cases. It doesn't invalidate the pain she herself has endured but does make her actions out to be worse in regards to how she sees it. If she dies it would most likely be as a sacrifice to atleast do something she hopes it right this time.
Yotsuyu, the one I personally see most likely to die. Personally still think she should have died already but, well, memory loss is a thing FF likes to do in previous games. She'll either die after returning to being a villian, die preforming a sacrifice when her new perspective changes her mind on things, or actually get killed off by vengful NPCs regardless of her own feelings on the matter (something that Fordola probably won't have happen to her but we've seen NPCs want to do.)
Also Krile hasn't been forgotten about, she was even mentioned near the end of the patch story. The ordeal she went through is something she has to recover from though, similar to how Y'shtola ultimately was taking out of most of SB's story to recover.

Player
You obviously skipped cutscenes or forgot about her in 4.0. She did have screentime, she was captured, and there was a whole mission of rescuing her. She's obviously recovering from that ordeal.

See this is why I wish they wouldn't push him quite so hard. Because then we get attached and then they have merit in killing him. Keep him juuuust a bit to the side, thank you.
Calling it now... Fordola will progressively grow on us but because of everything she has done we as a player can't forgive her. Story will go and she will ultimately sacrifice herself to save us or the story and by doing this redeeming herself in our eyes - the player. Only at the end she will truly find peace. This is what I'm expecting.
They have a history of killing off characters that have any sort of personality and/or depth so I try not to get too attached to anyone.
