    Today after trying and failing to log onto my FFXIV account I checked my email to find the following:

    Dear silvanesti,

    Thank you for using the Square Enix Account Management System.

    Due to a processing error with your payment method, all continuous options for the following service account have been cancelled. The details are as follows.

    Date: 02/05/2012
    Payment Method: Credit Card/Debit Card
    Service Account Name: FINAL FANTASY XIV
    -------------------------------------------------------

    To reactivate automatically continuous options, please select "Reactivate" from the relevant service account's Options List.
    -------------------------------------------------------


    I was previously using the click and buy system with no problems at all. However when the new payment option of debit/credit card came out about a week ago, I switched over to that. I didn't experience any problems at the time of changing payment options until today.

    As the email instructed I followed the steps to reactivate my character. All works well up until the point where I enter my card details. I get a little processing animation like its checking my details then this :



    So now basically my account has been deactivated, I am unable to reactivate it with a credit card that I know is fine, I have no idea what error code 601 pertains to, and I have been unable to find anything about anyone from the S.E Support Center having fixed this issue.

    I know I am not the only person with this issue, so I am hoping that someone knows what is going on, and can shed some light on the situation.

    I would appreciate any information you guys can give me on the problem.

    I had the same problem (error 601) with my debit card. Contacted SE support. Was given an answer that my country is not listed in the region, so, cannot pay. [Was searching for solutions whole night - re-registered card, phoned bank - cant even post on lodestone to require help from community ~_~]
    I later on (next morning) tried with my father's credit card. Payment gets through with no problem. =o=""

    Oh congrats^^. I am glad that you got something to work out. It's a pity though that SE support couldn't give you any helpful information.

    I've been trying all day to fix it, but no luck at all. I actually started looking at other MMORPGs to play... Was just checking out Tera.

    Anyway thanks for the info.

    I just tried using a different credit card, but when I try to register it I get the same (601) Error Code... fail.

    I contacted support center concerning error 601 as well and this is what I've got:

    "If you get error 601 when registering your bank card, please ensure all the details in your Square Enix account (name and home address) match the billing information of your bank card. It is essential that this information is identical."

    So thats why I couldnt use somebody's else cards however I was receiving this error with my own card as well. I suppose you are in the same situation but perhaps this is where your issue lies~ If no then maybe just go back to C&B?

    my girlfriend is still getting this error

    seriously

    what the fuck square enix

    my gf has had added time under the new payment plans before, and it took her like a week to finally get through using ultimate pay, never having been able to add time directly due to the 601 error. now she tries again, ultimate pay is blocking her card (which is obviously fine as she has used it before), and she is still getting 601 errors months later

    i gave her the info for the card that i MYSELF am using and it's getting the 601 error for her

    this crap needs to be cleaned up before 2.0 hits. for your own sake.

    maybe the 601 error is our fault somehow, but seriously, clean up that damn billing account site. it is atrociously bad.

    Well sh!t... the problems is back & making a mess once again.
    Wth is up with this damn payment stuff?

    I never had any problems using my debit-card before,
    now im also getting error code 601 (for my other account)
    and still no reply to my other thread or any news regarding this.

    Come on GM Reps or w/e, start to investigate wth is going on.

    Well i tried my click & buy account (got it unblocked)
    And when trying to pay with C&B from SE's Account management site...
    it refuses & gives me a fantastic new error message...
    An error has occurred.
    Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.
    For details, please contact the Square Enix Support Center.
    (Error code: 401)

    fix the damn payment crap issues.
    I never had so much trouble before in my life.

    now my second account is well...dead.

    Amazing i managed to pay with my normal debit-card for my main account 1 month back,
    but now i cant because... you tell me, you're the one handling the payment service.

    And i payed with same debit-card previous month on my second account...
    Do you actually want us to NOT play your game?

    This is quite nice. I've convinced some of my friends to start playing FFXIV. They bought the game without any issues but when trying to add the char option they get Error Code 601.

    They have been charged for the game without issue but they can not create a character to play... Well played SE... Well played.
