Thread: In Regard to Housing in Patch 4.1

Players should only be able to purchase and own one housing plot that would leave much more plots open for others to be able to get a house in the game that have the in game currency to do so. To be able to own more than one plot of land I feel is unfair to anyone else who wants to purchase a house in the game, myself being one of those players as I have been saving my gil up for when 4.1 dropped I could get a plot in Mist that was originally owned by one of my friends but the massive login queue on Faerie made it next to impossible. I do have friends who have let me share their house while I do appreciate their generousity I would like to own my plot of land in the game and put my mind to work crafting everything I need for the house cause all I have right now is a bunch of housing materials but nothing to use them for given how quickly housing went the instant 4.1 dropped.

Look, i get that you were going for that neighborhood appeal, but this lack of housing is insane. Although i love FFXIV, the personal housing in this game is terrible. The best housing system i have played in an MMO comes from EQ2. I would suggest you check it out. The have neighborhoods. You can own as many houses as you want -and so can EVERYONE else - people can visit. All your alts can be apart of all of your houses and you can have like 10 tenants with full access to your home. Even the apartments have places to grow plants. Some even have patios. And storage abilities are awesome. Shared spaces for you and your alts. They even have separate Guild Halls specifically for Guilds. Although they don't have private chambers and i think that is awesome in this game. I don't see why instancing them is such a big deal when in realty they already are. click on the door and pop into your attached Guild Hall or house.

Are you gonna do something about the people that are hoarding multiple houses/plots on their alt accounts? I've found literally dozens on Excalibur over the last few years.

And related to that, you need to just outright BAN people that are flipping houses. Buying houses that encourages people to buy illegal gil for farmers since these houses generally sell for large amounts of gil that most people don't have like 50-100m. House hoarders and house flippers are just making the housing situation worse.

I would like to propose a potential solution to the XIV staff that would be both cost efficient, and beneficial for everyone, SE included.

1: Limit housing per account to 1 FC house and 1 personal apartment.

2: Make personal apartments instanced, much in the way FFXI is. The difference being, you can upgrade them from small to eventually large, allowing for everyone to own a personal living space without the need for individual plots.

3: Remove personal housing in the wards and make them 100% FC only. This will free up the majority of plots that are owned by multiple characters on the same account. Currently there are 2,880 housing plots between all zones and wards. That's a lot of FC real estate that could be utilized.

4: Make all FC housing ward plots upgradable in a similar manner as the apartments would be. This system would allow every FC to own a large home if they chose to upgrade the the plot to that point.

One thing that would help with congestion from logins is to open all the wards early. This should have been done with SHirogane housing.

Instead of everyone camping at the Aetheryte (or in Shirogane's case, ward 1), let everyone disperse into the new housing wards beforehand.

I believe the developers need to create more housing in all locations because many players are homeless and want housing. I’ve been saving for years now and want a place for my character to live and garden and keep training my chocobo. There needs to be a rule for one house per account not just let people buy a whole ward

Like someone else in this thread, I have to agree to the thought of making the personal housing account bound. Maybe allow the alts to have their own apartment and fc room, (unless that becomes an issue), but when it comes to personal housing, make it 1 per account where all alts can use it.

P.S. If you do have alts, maybe allow 1 personal house per server, (for those who have alts on more than one).
