Does anyone know if 2.0 will cost more money or is my 1.x Key that I already bought gets me 2.0 client for free?

Those who already purchased the game will get 2.0 as a free download.
To my knowledge they told us additional software would not be required to continue playing at 2.0
That is not to say it wont also be bundled as an expansion which may require something seperate for that specific end of things.

Sorry, too lazy too look for the thread. Buy we will get 2.0 for free. The only ones that will have to buy the game (as 2.0) will be new users post-2.0 launch.
So, no worries.
No need to look for anything. There's a big button on The Lodestone main page.
Among our new plans is the fundamental reworking of in-game maps. As part of this process, there will be a period required for switching over to a new client and new servers, after which there will be a large transfer of data when service is brought back online. After the new client is completed, new software for the PC version will be distributed online, and can be acquired free of charge. Character data and progress for players already playing the PC version will also be preserved, allowing those players to continue using their in-game avatars. Another announcement will be made in the future as the day on which the new FINAL FANTASY XIV software will become available for download draws near, and the PlayStation®3 system version officially released.
A new client is coming out for 2.0
We can then download the new client for free.
Everyone who has already a FF XIV account don't need to buy a new account key.

Indeed correct.
Unless you want to get the PS3 version.
I doubt it, software upgrade on the same platform is one thing, but I don't see them giving you a copy for another platform for free. They still want to earn money on box-sales and PS3 is a lovely way to do that![]()
