Wow, SE actually listened? God Bless
They did the thing!
DAE remember when FFXI gave EVERYONE an instanced house you could place furnishing in for FREE, and later a huge ass garden island where you raised creatures...for FREE? Just sayin
He said he wasn't releasing details. That makes me think changes to the system are coming. I'm worried it will go to one house per account and people with two houses will automatically lose the extras.
Well, assuming the translation picked up the nuances accurately (never a sure thing), it doesn't sound to me like changes to the rules on existing houses:
"We’ve also received considerable feedback as to how they should be added, and we will be making an announcement outlining the number of new wards and how they will be sold after reviewing said feedback."
How they should be added and how they should be sold sounds more like changes in how to get the new ones, something besides being the first to get online after downloading a big patch update. It could be timed releases a little while after servers come back up. It could be a lottery system where who gets to buy is chosen randomly rather than by who gets there first. They might add rules to prevent players from selling plots to discourage house flipping (like a delay between relinquishing a plot and making it available to other buyers, so that the relinquisher doesn't get a chance to guarantee who would get it). It could be a change in pricing. There's a number of possibilities.
Of course, that doesn't preclude also having changes in rules about multiple houses. I'm pretty sure, though, that if they limit people to one personal house per account, they'd have to also allow people to share that house between all their alts. A lot of people would find that sort of sharing to be a big bonus as it's something we can't do now, though many of us want to. So while some might be upset at not having multiple houses, others would be happy about finally being able to share one.

I am with Niwashi. It is probably a reference to the sold out before login. You can't even compete for a house if you can't get past the login server. Last time when the forums mocked (that's right mocked) Balmung/Gilgamesh when houses sold out it was the login issue front and center.
It was asked that they look into selling houses after the server is up and stable and the world is full. Is it possible a zone might crash. Yes. But people might now feel so hurt if someone out runs them. Still bitter, but not as hurt. If you both run side by side you can think you might beat them. At least they are going to try to do something! No, it won't be perfect. No, it won't make everyone happy because that's impossible. As they did not say specifically what they will be doing all the speculation is just talk which means nothing. Go play FFXIV and wait and see what happens.
Honestly, I'm just glad we are getting new wards. At least they are going to try to do something! No, it won't be perfect. No, it won't make everyone happy because that's impossible. It says more wards. "we will be working to bolster our servers in preparation for additional wards in the Lavender Beds, the Goblet, Mist, and Shirogane by patch 4.2." pretty clear it is same system just more. The other stuff is just a way to try to even it out better past SE awesome login system. At least they are going to try to do something! No, it won't be perfect. No, it won't make everyone happy because that's impossible. As they did not say specifically what they will be doing all the speculation is just talk which means nothing.
