demo timer's aren't in most games for housing. so it's not a good band-aid fix to the main issues. people should be able to take a break or if life arises without losing your hard earned home.

honestly you don't need more than 1 FC and Personal per server. anything else is greed or for alterior purposes like flipping.

most people lie that they want to decorate multiple homes? i've seen the effort gone into that and it's embarrassing. put some real effort into your main home and FC property properly and make it shine. stop cutting corners and using generic vendor housing items and think what you are doing is good to warrant how many houses? it's time to start with truth

The problem with this is it enables players who have decided to play on another character to keep a home on a character they no longer use. Well the current one still does but at least it encourages you to play that character to keep their house.

I think the demo timer should be increased to 90 days as it is rare for a player who intends on playing frequently to be unable to log in for 90 days. 45 days makes things difficult if you have to go on a work trip, move house or are unlucky enough that your gaming machine dies. I actually know two people who gave their login details to friends to enter their houses because they were unable to due to moving house.

I would settle for some sort mechanic that would extend the demolition timer, but with limited charges per year to prevent it from being abused. Like maybe a check-box you click in the mogstation to extend the timer to 90 days. Having it accessible through the mogstation makes it possible for players who don't have access to a gaming machine to still extend the timer.

i would prefer them to instance housing and add more as demand sees fit, that way nobody loses homes and anyone can get as much as they want. or plan to make a ward with friends together. etc

but if enix is going to force and gate limits on housing. something has gotta give

and honestly the majority who sit on empty houses or multiple houses are just flippers. they aren't playing the game to have fun. its all about selling shit for real money. they can take a loss, get a real job

they need to take a hard stance on abusers

add in more quality of life changes too, so if someone is sitting on a house they have an in game means to sell it for plot value so they can move it now and legitimately so they can get rid of it for any reason

    I disagree with this.

I shouldn't be limited to one house on a server that I can't even share with my other characters. Not that I would really want them to share. Each character has its own look and style and their house would ideally be different too.

Housing should be a gil sink for the game for all the players. The number of wards needs to increase based on the demand for housing on the server. Keep the demo process in place by all means. It'll keep the neighborhood from becoming just a monument to players that don't play anymore. As wards fill up, new wards should be created.

Of course it is. Getting a house is the only feature in the game you CAN'T take part in even if you want to. Players can make multiple runs at a mob until what they want drops and they win the roll, this isn't how housing works at all.

Dynamic wards is a great solution, it's probably the best option to fix the system as it is now because it would guarantee a small for every character (while those looking to upgrade just need to watch the wards in hopes of finding a new med/large when a new ward is generated). Outside of upgradable instanced housing I don't think there's a better solution. I hope it happens no matter how much the cynic in me tells me it won't.

I agree this would be the best solution, except for the glaring fact that wards are in fact zones not instances, so it's much more difficult to just create one out of thin air and keep it running. I have no idea what their infrastructure looks like, but judging on what I've seen with other parts of the game and the apparent limitations, this seems like an unlikely solution for the immediate future.

I agree with the OP, SE should also really get those housing restrictions implmented asap.

I was thinking about this, and if houses were restricted to only one personal house per server per account... would we even need a demo timer?

Yes you would because the next complaint would be my neighbor john doe quit the game a year ago yet he still is holding up that house next to me cause theres no demo timer.there has to be some timer for people who leave the game and have houses
