    Likelihood on WoL focus?

I do feel like one character that should have some focus is you, the WoL him/herself. We really don't know much about our own avatar. The first scene in the game. Why was s/he on the cart to begin with? Where was the WoL's original home? Was s/he leaving there because at the time the WoL literally had no fighting capabilities? If so what if s/he went back now as a god slayer?
What about old friends from those home that s/he might've known before meeting the Scions?
Hell how about encountering a character that if you are starting from ARR is a legendary WoL and you want to know more about the guy and his struggles during 1.0 or if you are a Legacy character that NPC is instead one of your comrades who fought beside you during Bahamut's awakening?
Some stuff that focuses on the WoL I think would be great to expand the character. Moreso if you approach these as a Dark Knight and your Fray contemplates on how things have changed from before you went on that cart to now.
    Thoughts?

Final Fantasy XIV seems to embrace being one of the last refuges of the [Build Your Own Heroes] Final Fantasy game, but very rarely does it blatantly tell you when you should think of it that way. They give you a lot of blank checks to fill out how you will, but don't often label them as such - at the risk of it being mistaken for blandness or negligence.

Almost anything subjective is up to you, the player. The people of Eorzea assume that your character is a foreigner from abroad. Is this true? Or are they mistaken and you allow them to believe it? Up to you! Where did you really come from that you ended up on that carriage into town? Up to you! What was your life like before that? How old are you? What are your parents like? What were your prior means of sustaining your lifestyle? What was your lifestyle? All up to you!

This also extends to why your character just isn't very expressive. If the story calls for you to think, feel, or react a certain way (whereby that's how it's meant to be), you do. If not, it's up to you what you really said or thought between stoic nods and weapon draws. Project yourself onto your character. If you and your character aren't much alike, project them onto yourself and see what is reflected back into the game.

If you care to find depth and meaning, there's much to find - it's just what you want it to be.

The same applies to the timeline, really. The game takes place in an open world that is "frozen" in a one-year bubble, but you're completely free to decide for yourself how long it's been for you. Maybe someone likes to imagine this has been one hell of an eventful year ripping off 20,000 years of band-aids on our world. Maybe for someone else this journey started when they could lift a weapon and won't end until they no longer can.

I feel like questions and requests like these, completely miss the entire point of the WoL being a blank slate. I really don't want the writers to decide who Siesta is or what her life story is.

For instance, I can say that she's the child of a (colony) Sharlayan and Twelveswood hunter/trapper, who both turned to adventuring and met while on the job. I can say that she was orphaned by the Calamity, and turns 19 in Year 5 of the Seventh Umbral Era. I can say that she was on the carriage heading to Ul'dah because she was travelling there, from Limsa Lominsa, for her godfather's funeral. Bam, all of that is now canon for my WoL, because the writers don't dictate who she is.

In terms of blank slate, I guess it's true they really should not do much setting things in stone as that would ruin differing perspective. I'm hoping more though that there would be some stuff that would centre on the WoL and you would have options to deal with these events that suits the way you want your character to be?
In the style of Old Republic (though I left that game years ago for various reasons I'll always give it points for letting you have near total control of your character's behavior in the game, you could be a darling angel or you could be a mean ****tard!) or even Elder Scrolls Online, there could be a bunch of events where you have the option of reacting in a certain way, the way you want to which could change the way NPCs behave around you or even change the nature of some quests

And these options can be tailored to how you feel you want your character to be. Like my previous example of meeting a fellow WoL, there can be options to have your WoL look up to that guy if you want or be arrogant and say you are much worthier of the WoL if you want etc, if a Legacy character you might want to embrace the guy after not seeing him for so long, or not.
Just some things I suppose I would like to see rather than the Slayer of Gods, simply standing there nodding and agreeing to do everything he's told, no questions asked, that's really not how I see my canon character to be.

(Sorry for the double post. It's the character limit thing.)

My WoL came from another world... Okami Maru "The Sword of a Thousand Blades" came from Rune Midgard summoned by Hydalyn having become a legend as a God killer...
In fact I actually modeled my character after a character I played in an old Korean mmo... I'm glad the WoL backstory is never explained otherwise my story wouldn't be nearly as epic
