Orchestrion Rolls...

At first I loved the fact we could play music in our homes with our favorite tunes from the game......

But going through the MSQ yesterday....I'm feeling a bit flooded with new music......

It is starting to maybe feel a bit lazy instead of useable rewards from quests, we keep getting music, and more music, and oh hey, more music....and the only use for the rolls is for our home/apt/fc room.....

An idea I thought of is maybe allow us to use those rolls for mount music. What do you think?

What else can we do with the music? What else can we do for rewards in general?

Those are basically two suggestions here, so I'll adress them individually:

1) I dont really understand what you mean by saying you feel its "lazy" for them to give us music as rewards for quest. I very much like that - and I dont think its like we're getting the music instead of something? So its not "lazy" its "extra" - we still got our minion from the last mainquest and on top of that some music! Seems fair to me, music hasnt replaced (unique) quest-rewards, it has been added. So please, keep doing that!

2) Playing music on mounts has been suggested multiple times - apparently its not to easy to implement that though - some complicated audio-code again. On top of that: Personally, I like certain mounts because of their specific music... so... while I'm not really "against" that suggestion, the specific-mount music can also be an extra intencive to farm/use that mount. And you can always mute the game and play some other music, so I dont feel that its to needed - aka: if its complicated and takes away time that could be used elsewhere... use it elsewhere

And this is why I would prefer not to have orchestrion rolls available on mounts. Here's the problem. There are some mounts (for example Lakshmi's mount), that play mount specific music that is available on the orchestrion. if you add the ability to play music from the orchestrion on a mount, where does that leave those mounts who have mount specific music also available as an orch roll?

Here's the thing. It kinda reduces the reason to farm for the Lakshmi mount. I can ssimply fire up some generic mount and play Lakshmi's theme (which I already have on orch roll), or I can go out and farm the bajajas outta Lakshmi (which can be infuriating). That's why I can't support it.

However, as to a suggestion I have: Make Inn Rooms remember what song you had on. Heck, do some handwavey "Genetics Detection" ass-pull if you have to in order to explain it. This way those without apartment/house can still benefit.

As for other uses, I'm not sure.

I don't know about using them on mounts only, but I wouldn't mind it for the field in general. FFXV has an mp3 player item that lets you do something similar. Perhaps it could be an Allegan relic? Also, since the game allows you to toggle between having mount music on or off already, it can be done so mount-specific music still plays while it's turned on, but if you turn it off you can still have access to the Orchestrion music while on a mount. But given FFXIV's coding limitations I'm not sure if that'd be feasible either.
