    Stop asking for more wards

Creating more wards for more houses only creates less problems, but does NOT effectively solve the issue.

Even if we received an extra ward, the day it is released will be another day like today with majority of people being disappointed and angry over the same login RNG disaster.

What we need is a change in how housing is done for the future in this game and the community as a whole need to push for it.

I understand SE wanted to give us a neighborhood feeling with wards, but being able to own a house for your own FC or for oneself is far more important than belonging in a neighborhood.

Personally I would like to see instanced housing.
    • A 1 house mini instance with customizable environments (trees, water, terrain)
    • Owners able to upgrade the house size
    • Friends be able to visit the house instance

What does the FFXIV community think of instanced housing?

The problem with this just comes down to development time. Adding additional wards would literally probably be a 1 day task to change some code, review it send it off to QA and deploy.

this is not new, i feel like if they knew how to do this properly we wouldn't have gotten apartments.

Instanced housing would be OK. But I actually like hanging around the housing ward and seeing other peoples houses and hanging out with people by the MB(my new FC and old FC are neigbours and we all hang out and chat by the nearby MB).

Housing wards are a big part of the social aspect of the game that I enjoy. Having all housing shunted into individual instances where you only see your own house and can only interact with people you invite over would kill that aspect, even though it would help solve the housing availability issue.

People are asking for more wards because they know the odds of instanced housing is minuscule at best. It's less a "we want more wards!" and more "we want something to get done this time."

Like i said in other topics, instanced house doesn't help anything, the problem is saving the data and u still need to save with instanced houses

    On a related note.

Stop suggesting a lottery for housing! I've seen this idea multiple times today and it's utterly revolting in every possible way. Besides, the last thing the game needs is more blasted RNG (yeah yeah, MMO blah blah RNG blah blah... but there's a line)... in fact, the dev team love putting RNG layers on top of RNG layers so much I could see it being implemented in a truly nightmarish and sinister way.

Been too busy to read the forums for a long while but just saw what happened for the FC in game and saw the reddit and realized I could beat my favorite dead horse :3...

    /bangs drum lol

FFXIV's housing system is very non-competitive compared to other MMOs (P2P and even F2Ps) and for a sub game, with a cash shop, it makes me embarrassed for SE.. which is quite a bad feeling imo.

The graphics are nice - and I feel if the system was better you'd see even better graphical possibilities (for example in WS there is this backdrop: LINK but I know SE's would look 100x better yet you'll never see it because their system can't do it). Nael Van Darnus Backdrop to your house drifting in the void, Roshi house, Grass planes, snowy mountain top, or w.e you wanted lol. Housing in Ishgard in your next patch, because it's instanced and you're using theme props and an "Ishgard" backdrop.

To add Wildstar (usual reference for instanced housing) has neighborhoods/communities now which basically allow you to have the insane customize-ability of the system but with a large group of people on a very large plot. The one each player gets for themselves, each and every - for free, is already larger than FFXIV's largest house plot inside and out, but now in a community (housing area) you share that with 5 other people on what is equivalent to 5 plots + a little extra. Far less pipe dream would "just" (just makes it sound easy, its not.. but really hope something changes) would be they do what LotR does and auto-generate those wards when one is full.

Of course changing a system so drastically would cost /a lot/ of money, time (also money, lol), likely distract from other content (although housing system > blitzball or new pvp area in terms of priority imo), and perhaps some reputation ("We're doing what ARR is to 1.0 for housing") and that's why we've not seen them make a substantial change.. and probably never will, which sucks. FFXIV's housing graphics are quite nice and I'd probably die from explosive joy if they had even close to Wild Star power in their game since I just like their world/art a lot more (FF's). Really want a chocobo farm.. still lol.

On the bright side the other new stuff in this patch is quite cool though. SE always delivers pretty, visually and audibly :3 (not even got to it, just saw some people do it - too busy to play outside of gardening even, but hey I'm supporting the game still XD).

I think the wards should stay, as others have said, I like visiting the housing instances and seeing what others have done to their houses. I think though perhaps maybe the wards could be kept solely for FC owners and personal housing changed to instances housing. Not sure what this involves but failing that why not add more housing areas? Ishguard would be nice, and I’d love to see a camp bronze lake type themed housing area. Can’t understand why, seeing as SE know the huge housing issues, we’ve only just received one extra housing area and why Ishaguard never got One when HW was released, don’t understand the logic there! You could easily have sea of clouds, churning mists, cortheas housing instances. Might not solve the issue but the more areas added (also adding more than 12 wards which is a ridiculous amount for such a highly populated game) the more chance players have of getting a house.

See they don't even need to kill the neighborhoods. Do a mixed BDO system where the houses still sit in one neighborhood, but the houses are instanced zones.
