I can't speak for everyone, but I dislike apartments not because of the lack of a social aspect, but because:

    --They're small
--You can't garden in them (I.e., cross-breeding plants)
--Small item limit (though at least they upped it to 100 with SB...)
--Not an adequate substitute at all for Free Companies
--Basically a more expensive FC room with no added benefits (less actually because they aren't part of an FC house)

My ward is a ghost town. I have a small personal house for my FC and I see maybe 2 people once a week. If I'm lucky. The most activity I've seen in a housing ward was the day of maintenance when people were scoping out plots in Shirogane, joking around in plots and in /shout. It was nice to actually talk with people but the wards aren't always that active.

The ideas of replacing the entire housing system with instances or introducing a housing rent fee all smack of jealousy and spitefulness to me, honestly. "If I can't have it, nobody should!" is the feeling I'm getting here.

The solution is simple, and already in the game. APARTMENTS. Instanced housing with potentially unlimited quantity. All they need to do is remove the cap on room numbers and add different room sizes, and it'd be problem solved. Homeowners get to keep their virtual real estate, and everyone else gets their instances. It's a win-win for everyone.

Pardon me but if that is the problem for you, would you change your wiew on apartaments if they were to fix those points?

I dunno about her, but I would. 100%.
They could also be a little bit bigger. And you could have an option to buy "duplex" and "penthouse" appartments which were bigger and more expensive, but offered more space and options.

I've seen people with multiple houses on the same account with characters in the same world. How is THAT fair?

Bottom line, they need to add restrictions to the system as a whole to help prevent all of this.
I agree. The issue with this form of housing is that it will never meet the needs and demands of the playerbase. If they added two new wards today, but two hundred new players joined the game, not even a hundred of those players would get a plot. The way this particular housing system is designed, it's meant for servers that have a cap. Meaning that only a certain amount of players are allowed per server. But when you have uncapped servers and people can create as many characters as they want, instanced housing works better.

I know that a lot of people like the current ward system, but with way that SE has their servers set up, it just doesn't work and a lot of people are getting screwed out of a portion of the game.

It's not, housing should absolutely be limited to one per account, along with apartments. I don't see how it's an excuse to throw the baby out with the bathwater though. You're just proving my point, that your petition to replace the current housing system is being born out of jealousy and spite for those that managed to get a plot. I don't think I've ever seen a group of people so demonised by this community as Shirogane homeowners.

Completely happy with it, don't feel the need or desire to move. But even I feel the system needs improvements. Apartments don't cover it by the way. See quote below.

They're not even available for FCs. Apartments are personal only. So people wanting a house for their FC should accept an apartment they can't buy for said FC? Oh, and FC housing is the only way to access the Company Workshop. So FCs are selfish for wanting to be able to access that?

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I want the housing to be account bound per world. You have a personal house on one character for that world? It's shared among all your characters on that world, you don't get another one. Meaning you can have a house on Leviathan and Exodus, but you can't have 2 houses on Exodus or 2 houses on Leviathan.

out of 200 New players? given how housing is now, I'd guess maybe 1, at best, would get a house.
