Unable to launch application. Launch using the ffxivboot.exe file

I've been getting this error since the patch started downloading. I am now unable to patch nor launch the game.

Nothing has changed on my system and I use a shortcut but the install is on a data drive since I use an ssd. any ideas why it suddenly can no longer patch?

oh and I've tried manually launching the ffxivboot.exe file as admin. it just says the same thing.

Looks like something in the boot folder is corrupt. I had to use a back up copy from my windows 7 install from last year of the 'boot' folder. If you don't have one, you may have to reinstall the whole thing unless someone can send you the 45mb folder. I used it on my Windows 10 install and it updated and worked.

I upgraded to the storm blood expansion last night. I went to get on today and I clicked the shortcut and it started loaded final fantasy update launcher. Then it threw up an error message saying (unable to launch application. Launch using ffxivboot.exe file. I dine the file and click it and it says the same thing. I have tried all kinds of different solutions and running it as admin everything I've tried it always says the same thing.

even if you don't have a dropbox, just hit cancel and it'll let you download it.

I've even renamed the folder and tried allowing it to redownload the whole folder. Negative on working.
