What does Blizzard's complete refusal to permaban total scumbags have to do with FFXIV players abusing the report system?

Going to guess it's someone claiming the system is faulty, then the developer stepping in and saying, "no, this is why you've been suspended." Also, going to point out the fact that it took that many reports to have action taken against them. Pretty impressive for a game where you encounter only 11 other players at a time.

You have only so much staff and thousands/ millions of players and hundreds, if not thousands, of tickets a day. Just getting through 80 tickets a day (was the quota) was pretty hard. Add in verifying information, research for validity, catching the player online and not AFK (hopefully in a timely manner).

People are so quick to dismiss GMs taking action against players. "I reported [player] for [violation] and they still play." However, those same people will dismiss that behavior when it comes to a supposed banning for simply buying a house in Shirogane. Really now, that's quite the double standard you've step up there.

When reporting someone, it does give a warning that any false reports will result in the reporter getting reprimanded in some way. If you're not breaking the ToS in any way, you'll be fine.

Edit: A friend of mine was suspended during the initial release of Stormblood under the suspicion of being a bot. She DC'd in a dungeon and couldn't get back into the game for a week (remember that awful issue?), and so they suspended her under suspicious activity. However, it was quickly rectified when she contacted SE to let them know the issue. They're not totally unreasonable.

Nope, this was a big story about a month ago wherein a player came to the official forums upset they recieved a suspension.

Kaplan, who is the Overwatch equivalent to Yoshi-P, came forward with the above post. The fallout resulting was more about how terrifying it is that a player was going for thousands of reports, multible suspensions, and hours and hours of muting from how viciously toxic this guy was, BUT HE IS STILL ALLOWED TO PLAY OVERWATCH.

So, I'm not at all saying GMs aren't doing good work, I'm just saying Overwatch's team refusing to permanently cut out players so toxic that the numbers would seem made up if not for them coming from Kaplan's own mouth is a terrible sign and is a bit of a PR disaster.

How could they not see the trail? He certainly wasn't fixing his habits, and it wasn't just a huge amount of salty players reporting a really good player (which also happened in Overwatch!).

Didn't knew we players have access to other player's account statuses, to be able say that. Maybe the "unjustly" wasn't so... unjust?

It's in the nature of the offender to never aknowledge having been in the wrong, so I'd be quite surprised if all of the ones claiming to have been hit by a suspension were, and are innocent, especially as someone in this thread already mentioned log in bots were discussed as a means of improving your odds of getting in early enough to claim a plot, and I have no doubts some people could've very well been desperate enough to try and ensure their odds, that they caved and used third-party software. And that is still assuming SE would ban and/or suspend people without conducting their own investigation first.

More then likely the people who were hit by a suspension are omitting the real reason why it happened, or the claim that they were suspended is false to begin with, but made for "shits and giggles" or to knowingly breed some form of false impression that Shirogane is "dangerous" to be in, making the new wards in 4.2 easier to claim if people stay away.

If you're worried of getting suspended, and having it stick, I dare say I wonder what you've been doing that you know is atleast in a ToS gray-area, if not in direct violation of it. And if you were indeed banned/suspended "unfairly", then contest it. Dont just kick up a fuss on forums, especially non-official ones (as it just seems like a knowing attempt to stir up trouble and dodge mod oversight)

No company ever is just gonna remove you willy nilly. They're knowingly getting rid of one customer, and doing so for no viable reason would be highly negative PR

Not for this issue but I personally seen unfair suspensions ya. It is why I am worried

Do you have multiple players on your network? on your device? There are a couple of things you can do. You can request from you ISP an alternate device and get a separate IPS made. Not all providers will do this and the reason mus be valid. A good example is that you believe your service is being compromise. They will require you to have a firewall set up and provide proof. Personally I had that issue with a few room mates and I had to get a dedicated line to prevent issues. If your on PC or PS4 and share the actual device your being screwed for someones behavior and may need to use an alternate. It really varies sucks but hey I'm glad they are doing this.
