Im kinda of the mindset now that, if people are going to buy houses specifically to sell on for an exorbitant amount of gil, then housing should be removed because it is people like this which are ruining the game for everyone.

Either remove personal housing, leave it for FC's. Or remake the housing system because frankly, at the moment, it is broken as hell and assholes like every person on that reddit forum are exploiting not only the game but the players, essentially making the game unenjoyable.

Before anyone says that "there is more to the game", Yes, yes there is. I am playing the rest of the game perfectly fine. The problem I have is having to stay out of certain channels or areas because people are shouting about the housing situation and for people on RP servers, like myself, who would perhaps like a house to RP with are denied that because of these house flippers.

make FC housing Instanced. remove it from the current housing field. Make it so any FC can purchase their house and expand it. from Small to medium to large if they have the funds to do so.
Do not release content that is gated behind owning a house and not have the players have the ability to get a house.
