Sadly, while the devs have often said that it's considered a bannable offense, they haven't stopped it from happening over the last 2-3 years we've obtained housing. I don't expect them to take care of this issue anytime soon, as they've basically done nothing about it since it was first created lol.

This would be a tricky one for SE though. They can't do much digging in sites that they don't own. If players keep their identities and the exact plot locations in private messages in sites unrelated to SE then they can't target them directly.

SE really can't do much about the house flipping because of both the current housing system and the fact that they don't own the areas they're typically organised in. The best thing SE can do really is take away their market, and that can only be done by increasing the amount of residency in the game.

Said this the night before patch but someone argued that I was wrong and that the GM do enforce it. I just laughed because in all this time of watching housing and people selling them these people are still walking about Balmung, even if they get a little slap on the wrist they walk away with an upwards of 15-100mil in gil if not more. I reported one of them back during the last housing patch in HW, nothing happened to them. And if they did get talked to about it and told it was against ToS, I'm sure they found another way of selling the plot either by reddit or other means. But for real money? Just wow...

You have seen how well moderated this game is right? They didn't even have a policy in place last batch of wards until Balmung shamed Yoshi into saying something. Not suppose to sell houses and a whole sub reddit exists for it. If you don't say anything in game they almost can't prove anything. I will say they might ban anyone moving a house in the first couple months out of principle. The fearless leader said it was OK to flip houses in his vague non committal way. You just aren't suppose to profit from it.

You can't stop people from doing bad things. It is literally impossible on a global scale. People break RL laws all the time, many of which have far more severe consequences obviously, and regardless of punishment, it keeps happening. What can SE possibly do to stop bad behavior from ever happening that RL punishment by death or life sentencing can't?
