In Defence of Housing

I agree instanced housing is shitty. I like being able to see all my neighbors.

I also agree that more wards should be added and houses should be limited to 1 per service account.

I wish it were that easy. I'm on Leviathan, got up at 5am and updated, signed in the second the servers came up, and all of the houses were gone by the time I got through the queue to login. I have a small house already that we got in 2013 but was really hoping for an upgrade to a medium or large. No such luck.

I can't just move to another server or I would. My friends are here and we came from FFXI together and have now played together for over 12 years. I really can't leave them, it would break my heart.

What makes me angry about the whole thing is the people on my server who are selling the plots for 200 mil + . That is something that should be stopped. Make housing one per account. While that won't fix everything it will at least open up a few places.

That said, I don't want instanced housing at all. I love my neighborhood and most of my neighbors are cool. Take some of this money from mogstation purchases and upgrade the servers so we can have more wards!

Your monthly sub grants you the ability to login. Nothing more.

So what you're saying is, as long as I can login I can't complain? Even if I can't enjoy what the game offers.

I'm just surprised people didn't see this outcome but... why not let them vent a bit? It's not like the devs didn't see this outcome. I'd like to think they are pretty smart people even if they haven't solved this housing thing yet. I'm sure they'd rather people vent too and get it out of their system.

And games are supposed to be fun. Housing is a lot of fun many people don't get the chance to explore.

Your post is one of the weakest defenses for the current housing system I have ever seen.

On Brynhildr, the large and medium houses were sold out in 10 mins or so. It's one of the lowest populated servers in the game. FC now has 50 mil just sitting in the chest now. Our leader logged in asap but got delayed by a lobby error. You dont really have an idea of how bad the housing situation is do you?

So what you're saying is thers no defense and you admit housing is broken and has drastic flaws in the system. The sub fee is irrelevant, weither you play on a high population or low population server is irrelevant. Since by using your ability to login and go to whatever server you choose, you're still greeted by the same flawed system. I don't own nor desire to own a house, however it's obvious no one at SE or the development team thought housing out very well and people have a right to be upset and call them out on it.

20/7/3 Ward System hurts to. They should of created different types to fulfill different request. Make 20/7/3 the base, 30 Medium and a 20/10 Medium/Large split.

Small houses take up to much of the housing if we want to be real in terms of desirable land you have either.

Counting Medium/Large 240/720 33%

Just counting Large 72/720 10%

If you look at it from that perspective there was definitely not enough houses added.

Housing could be better if they stuck to their promise and seperate FC and Personal Housing, they made the wrong assumption in lumping those together.

You all pay a sub but there's still a cash shop with exclusive items, so it's not like you're guaranteed everything just by paying a sub like everyone else.
