How you could of SOLVED IT :
MAKING PLAYER PLAY THE GAME

The housing crisis could of been solved via the RAID SYSTEM & MSQ Duty.
If you play the game, then you took a chance.

During 24 player raids.
A chance item allowing anyone the ability to purchase a tier of "House Purchasing Permission Slip" has a 5% chance to drop.

Small houses need : 1 Purchasing Slips
Medium houses need : 2 Purchasing Slips
Large houses need : 3 Purchasing Slips

There is only 1 of them that will appear for completing the Last boss of any 24 player raid we made. This is the only way to buy a "PLOT" of land on your "SERVERS".

This item is NEED / GREED COMPETITION.
Best of Luck to those who play together, to win the "RANDOM" loot roll.

All 24 raids have this chance.
Not just the new raids.
If the raid is UNDERSIZED/UNSYNCED it will never drop.

No, its not a bad answer. If you quit the RAID, you forefit your chance at earning a purchase slip.

It would turn housing into: A RELIC SYSTEM.
This is the answer it needed.

Then you can't cry, wolf or complain if you can't win by not playing the game.

Except this becomes completely irrelevant after the first day because everyone would have been spamming raids and got the housing slips. Then you have people who run it once and get a slip, while others run it 20 times and have nothing to show for their work - I'm sure no one will complain about that.

THEN we have Sally. Sally doesn't want a house but won a housing slip. Sally sells her housing slip for 200m and we're right back where we started but with everyone being even more pissed off at SE for making them run raids for no reason.

Then it will simply lock out majority of the player base, especially casual players like me, who mainly enjoy socializing and other non-raid associated contents. To my understanding, people who enjoys raid content actually don't really care about housing and casual contents. Furthermore, Yoshi P stated during SB release that he wanted FFXIV be a MMORPG where players can freely enjoy without having to participate in the hardcore raiding mindset. in addition that players are encouraged to take breaks from the game should they find the patch content not to their liking.

Until you run the raid 20 times, finally get the drop, OH I'M GETTING A HOUSE SO EXCITING, so you run to the housing ward only to realise they've all been taken.

You then come to the forums to complain how terrible, bad and broken this design is. You probably throw about 3-4 'I'm cancelling my sub!' cries and write a thread about how housing should be done.
