There are certainly plenty more cities to add wards, it's time they coughed up and added the servers.

They could at least add more wards....I mean cmon. 12 wards?! There's plenty of money in the FFXIV bank for some server power for more wards.
Apartment are not house. some wants house.
The matter is, SE shows the candy, and make it really limited... lot of people wants a candy, but only 2160 could have. So SE after just nearly 2 years (... the game just turned 4 year old right?) they add 720 candies. not enough... What would you say if housing was in fact candies for children? think it is normal or cruel?
And more, limited candy => black market candy. some people who dont cares about candies will buy one... an sell it to anyone for just...3 time, 5 time, 10 time the original price.
Yes SE says "it is forbidden" but... if it exist, it is because SE does what it needs to exist...
Ok, not everyone player wants the house. just" really many" but there is one thing to add to people wanting house : FC wanting house.
remeber that FC house = personnal house + room for all members + some specific craft and the airships. so, SOME GAMEPLAY...
Now we have 2880 plot... not even 3 thousands!
Lets watch the last census : https://ffxivcensus.com/
Just watch activ character per realm (dont care the number created character... just the activ one)
the lowest number is Zeromus with 5426 (maybe i did miss another ok...) even if there is some reroll, and some people who dont cares housing...
there is 2880 plots for all of them AND their FC.
And even more, those who dont want any house could be allow to get one if they want.
You speak about cry when housing was release? 250M for a large on some legacy serv, 500M on others. and non legacy serveur, was from 50 to 100M for a large. for the cheaper large! 50M is now the biggest price.
BUT in 2.1 there was not so much money on servers. was hard to buy 1 house, even after they lowered all legacy house (down to 100-125M for the large) was hard to get some house...
Now? i dont farm, i play as a filthy casual, before i played many time, so i have 128M...
People cried because housing get too high prices.
And then, yoshida explained... "we didnt have server to get all people buying house" what?! the prices was this way to limit the speed people bought them, so... they could add server to handle all houses?
Then, personnal housing. when the FC one was release, yoshida said "Personnal house will be cheaper than FC house" ... and after personnal house release and some taunt to yoshida about this "you didnt understand, i said that when personnal housing get out, they will be cheaper than FC housing when i spoke" ... i could translate it as "Shut up"
and finally, more money for every player, get to 3x12 ward, all finally bought... They lower the housing prices. (... more money so have to do housing cheaper... logic) and finally add 12 ward when all people are rich enough for at least a small (and many can afford a large with no matter).
5426 activ character for the server with the less people, + their FC, for 2880 plot...
This is why, from the begining we cry againts housing... They dont want to allow investment enough to handle housing, and they consider we have to shutup!

Nothing says "community" like the the wedge between the "haves" and "have nots" of the housing feature. The FFXIV community is fairly nice overall, until you look at housing. Housing, since there's not enough to go around, creates a divide.
I'd be happy to just have an apartment, but I can't garden except in pots, I can't have a yard, and it's not big enough. Sorry, but an apartment is not good enough. A true instanced house would be fine for me, since I don't care about the "community" aspect of it all anyway. Some people don't care about that, so it would be a great option for some folks.
I was lucky this morning, and got a better plot in the Beds than the one I let demo about six weeks ago because I thought I'd just quit playing for a while. I know a lot of others weren't that lucky, and I still think the housing system--at least the acquisition system--sucks, and SE needs to fix it.

Oh boy here come the food analogies.Apartment are not house. some wants house.

Would you fancy me linking various pictures of glamour logs, which allow people to change outfits on the fly whenever they so choose once they have acquired the outfit once? FFXIV can't even devise a system that allows Paladin and Dark Knight to wear two unique outfits.
Balmung is the most populated server in the game by a good mile yet wards are devoid of interaction. The neighbour aspect has long since failed, especially when it only allows less than 20% of the entire active playerbase to play with certain content. Once accounting for FC, that number only dwindles further. You claim they have the technology. If so, then it's utterly incompetency they have yet to implement it. Shirogane was advertised as part of the expansion. No other content is limited to only 720 characters. People continuously suggest instanced housing because it provides a solution for everyone. Like others have said, they could very well leave the current ward system but add instances as an option for those who choose to go that route. Even Apartment could work if they were expanded upon. Increase the size, add a balcony and now you have something moderately comparable. As it stands, this is easily among the worst housing systems in the genre, if only because the vast majority will be excluded from it.As for housing... instanced housing isn't a better system, it's a different system. It has different requirements and different results. ESO's houses look amazing... much better than anything in FFXIV. But they all exist in some pocket dimension that no one will ever see unless they're explicitly invited. FFXIV wanted to do something different. They wanted to create a world that felt like your character lived there, and they've gone to a lot of effort to do so. But they also have the technology to greatly expand the current housing availability, and they continually choose not to. My desktop can hold the data for every asset in every ward on every server... so if they're having issues with stability from adding more wards, someone should be fired over that... either they're not adequately compressing the data so the client can unpack it when they load into the zone, or they just have zero idea what they're doing. Anyone running similar services on a cloud could just spin up or shut down Virtual Machines as-needed. If Amazon was running FFXIV, it'd take them maybe half an hour to change the one UI screen per housing district that matters and test it, and then a couple microseconds to spin up the VMs required to run it.
What's the point of adding more wards when many of the houses will go to alts
Pointless with no restrictions
it shoulden't be able buy a individual .. beacuse that has destroy it.
i mean person A has a FC large house + person has individual Large house.
What do you want to hear from devs? That less than 10% stayed sub in past 4 years? I agree they need a dedicated server for normal housing.
There's absolutely no reason for normal housing to be instanced, there's already a system in placed called apartments.
Be happy with it or suggest ways to improve it. Don't break entirely another system, it's not broken at all. It's same thing as calling raids as dungeons.
