the problem is real houses are extremely limited to the point of not even supplying a small fraction of people that want them. I mean they just increased the available housing by 30% and it was gone before most people could even get past the queue generated in the first 5 seconds of server up. Even all the houses vacated by people moving, I kind of felt bad for all the people standing around the city crystals scanning for vacancies long after shirogane was already filled out

and instanced housing is woefully inadequate, it doesn't have half the utility of an actual house and no outdoors at all and instanced means your not part of a neighborhood at all
heck, even small houses don't really offer adequate utility. Gardening seems to be designed around 3 plots of crossbreeding simultaneously and material supplier+junkmonger is needed for all the useful items

then to add to the mix an FC needs a house to actually do a decent amount of FC activities and even the largest houses are cheap enough for most people to afford solo at this point

It's just like a recipe for catastrophe that should have been very visible before even implementing it

So in at least that regard FFXIV is not only on-par with the likes of WoW, but actually much better.
She never said otherwise. Nonetheless, FFXIV is often held to similar acclaim yet uses archaic systems and constantly defaults onto the "server" excuse. Forget housing for a moment. WoW has a glamour system that spits on FFXIV. Free to play MMOs like Black Desert, ESO and Wildstar all have immensely better systems. Why is it XIV gets defended when virtually every other MMO does a better job on housing and glamour?

Instanced Housing like Bigger apartments and lofts and the like would SOLVE a lot.

Look at PSO2 housing, EVERY player has a free small apartment.
Which can be upgraded to a 3 Room loft, which is huge in comparison.
And a big balcony for gardening.

Saying instanced housing wont be good for neighborhoods is just wrong, people can still go and look at your home as long as you don't lock it.

I'm quite sure SE can pull off something better than this Ward stuff, because it's just not adequate anymore, sorry, but that is the truth.
Also, saying we don't have a right to complain just because we didn't get a house is wrong as well, im not complaining i didn't get a house.

I'm complaining because the whole system needs a serious looking at and some kind of remedy for the prevalent problem.
It just cannot be that every plot is sold out mere minutes after going live, that's not good planning.

You can insult me if you want or tell me that I'm wrong, it doesn't matter, what matters is that the community that looked forward to this has been "cheated", for a lack of better word, out of something many had waited a long time for.

Because most people posting here still prefers FFXIV over those other MMOs, and people tend to defend that which they like.

People who defend this game also has their right to defend their complaints about what they lack of, such as enjoyment in their game and difference of gameplay style from a person such as yourself.

Because if it mattered that much I'd be playing one of those F2P MMOs.

Definitely no one does a better job on Glamour. Black Desert does costumes... full-body, no customization. Most other MMOs do as well. Maybe the costumes look nice, but they're not your combination... your expression. They're something you bought from the cash shop with no ability to use it to uniquely express your character's personality. At best, other MMOs do *as well as* FFXIV... games like Rift have a nearly identical system where you pick individual pieces to show on your character, but even then, that's your character's outfit... you can't have multiple outfits saved for multiple different looks that you can swap between.

As for housing... instanced housing isn't a better system, it's a different system. It has different requirements and different results. ESO's houses look amazing... much better than anything in FFXIV. But they all exist in some pocket dimension that no one will ever see unless they're explicitly invited. FFXIV wanted to do something different. They wanted to create a world that felt like your character lived there, and they've gone to a lot of effort to do so. But they also have the technology to greatly expand the current housing availability, and they continually choose not to. My desktop can hold the data for every asset in every ward on every server... so if they're having issues with stability from adding more wards, someone should be fired over that... either they're not adequately compressing the data so the client can unpack it when they load into the zone, or they just have zero idea what they're doing. Anyone running similar services on a cloud could just spin up or shut down Virtual Machines as-needed. If Amazon was running FFXIV, it'd take them maybe half an hour to change the one UI screen per housing district that matters and test it, and then a couple microseconds to spin up the VMs required to run it.

I'm one of those who cares about the wards staying. SE needs to just spend the money to get server upgrades that can handle more wards. They are certainly raking it in with both subscription and cash shop. Put some of that back into what people want. I'd much rather have more housing than new mogstation outfits/mounts/boosts.

You already have instanced housing it's called an apartment.

Except they can't even add more wards for each server based population for odd reasons. 4 years. Nothing.
