    Unfair and frustrating payment methods

I hope a representative of SE reads this thread.

Today I logged into my account to purchase crysta, I was shocked to see that the methods of payment are incredibly unfair and quite frankly, out of date. Click and Buy is still the primary method, allowing me to make payments in £5 increments.

Why am I only able to make such payments when the monthly fee is £6.99? If I buy £5 worth of crysta, I am unable to play and in essence lose £5. If I buy £10 I am overcharged for a month by £3.01. The following month, I will be unable to add credit to turn this £3.01 into £6.99, forced once again to purchase an amount that quite frankly does not add up. Why is there no option for me to simply pay for X amount of months? I do not go into a store looking to purchase a £6 bottle of wine, present a £10 note and receive no change.

I read in the past that this sytem would be implemented, why has this not been a priority when SE is starting to charge consumers to play this game? Why am I being offered a discounted rate to play each month but in theory I am being overcharged as I have explained above? I am sorry, but this stinks of unfair trading where an offer is presented to a consumer but it is impossible for a consumer to receive this offer.

At the moment I will be paying for a game that is not finished. I want the opportunity to pay for this on a monthly basis and I believe you are robbing both myself and many other members of the community the opportunity to do this. I sincerely hope you will offer to refund the additional money that many consumers have had to pay before 6 January 2012.

I very much hope that an explanation can be provided.

I don't understand how updating the billing options was not a priority to SE with billing starting tomorrow. Already they are going to lose a lot of players when pay2play starts, the percentage of players that are on the fence about it may teeter the other way after dealing with the frustrating billing options.

Your analogy doesnt work because you dont get the full £10 worth of crysta taken, you get the 689 crysta taken out of your account, so you wiuld have 219 crysta left, then next month you put £5 in and have 719 crysta therefore covering the cost of the second month.

So in effect you are getting your change as you mentioned because you have to put less crysta in every other month, or some months you will not have to put any in if you buy £10 crysta a month.

This method is widely used, with PSN you can only buy PSN wallet topups in increments of £5, XBL uses a similar method with thier points system you buy say 1500 points for £15, and you but something for £11.99 and have the spare to spend on other things.

If you pay for 1 month and dont come back, then thats your fault knowing how much crysta you have.

Oh and DC universe online has a similar system for station cash, thier increments are £4, £8, £15, £19, £37 and £74 so if you want to buy the latest expansions you have to but £15 of station cash and have £4.01 worth left over to spend in the cash shop.

Which is similar to crysta for subs, you pay £10 and only need £5 next month, they are not taking all your crysta just the amount for the sub and you effectively pay less the next month.

that's the fee for JUST the game per month.

the fee to have one character IN the game per month is an additional 300 crysta.

it costs a minimum of 999 crysta total per month to be able to play the game.

why SE breaks it up like that for the FIRST character, i don't know.

cuz you HAVE to have the FIRST character to even play the game, so no one would just pay the 699 crysta for ONLY the game, ever.

I don't understand why this forum isnt FLOODED with threads complaining about payment. FIX IT ... YESTERDAY. For the love of Mary last time I played xi I bought a month worth of crysta. Not only do they need better increments but they drop this click nd buy bullshiz. The very next morning I get a call from the bank saying they had to freeze my bank account because I purchased from click and buy. Now I love ffxi and ffxiv, but seriously square, there is a limit to how much you can play hard to get. Also, adding other things to buy with crysta would be pretty nice, like plushies or little trinkets or something. Seriously guys you policies are sloppy AF.

Who cares if other games/services are as cumbersome and annoying as Click & Buy... And no it's not my fault if I have excess crysta and stop liking the game or have to quit for whatever reason and just lose out on the excess crysta I was forced to buy.

2012. Let's keep it simple. Let me enter my CC info and how many months I want to purchase. I was sure either in a post or letter Yoshi said this was how things would be prior to billing, yet here we are with just click & buy.

I agree with people on this, even though I have the ability to subscribe via other means. Other games offer game cards, direct CC payments, hell even FFXI could be paid for directly. For all the good they've done with this game, this is another large blemish on an already shakey reputation.

Adding Crysta in specific amounts is great and everything, but I still have to register an account through Click 'n' Buy to do that. So my payment options are: credit card through Click 'n' Buy, buy Crysta via Credit Card through Click 'n' Buy, or go find a place to buy an Ultimate Game Card and have a rolling surplus of points I can't really use. None of these is easy or convenient. It seriously shouldn't be this hard to give Square-Enix my money.
