Just so you guys know, the FFT creator tweeted that the events in FF14 is in no way a sequel of the original.

I prefer it that way, plus, the map around Dalmasca doesn't really fit the map we saw back in XII, it's best that they're two seperate entities.

Haven't read through thread yet. So if any of the below has been discussed yet - sorry.

Did Elidibus take on Zenos' appearance? The Officer's claim of him returning to the capital will need to have some validity, thus an actual face to that claim. The reaction from Varis of "how dare you" would certainly be appropriate if so. And the uncertainty of the other Imperial saying that Eorzea will need to produce Zenos' remains if they are to be believed will be impossible after the whole mob scene where we find out other mob activity resulted in Imperial Officer graves AND Zenos were trashed and that it was "gory to say the least" when summarized.

Yotsuyu... is it me or is she suffering from amnesia? She is acting very uncharacteristic of the person we dealt with.

Am I the only one thinking Ul'dah being involved in Ala Mhigan affairs will end badly. Ala Mhigan folk are unreasonable at the best of times; ignoring the past so easily and disregarding the issues surrounding what they are asking for and from whom, to say nothing of how riled up they get and become an obnoxious mob of people being disrespectful of everything and anything to get what they want - among many other examples. What I'm saying is - first it's getting help rebuilding and relocating; then it's building economy and infrastructure; then comes them wanting independence from Ul'dah claiming a piece of their profits; then they mob conveniently forgetting how they got back on track, and how Ul'dah and others "left them to die" without being reasonable as to why it isn't that black-and-white; then comes the rest -- this has happened numerous times in our own history, and with the aforementioned Ala Mhigan personality of being a twat without thinking or being reasonable/understanding... I fear they won't stay happy with this arrangement for long.

Also... seeing that 1.0 seen of Raubahn and Nana in the Bloodsand Colosseum as he earned his freedom was nice.

Only thing that would make that head scratching to me is that Elidibus has never been portrayed as particularly tall while Zenos was kind of monster of a man. Unless they can change shape that much.

I think Elidibus is the scientist guy from Ala Mhigo (cant remember his name, the second boss), the figure we see in Garlemald, and the scientist, both fit Elidibus' build, not to mention, Varis would be taken aback that the scientist that Varis value is actually an Ascian.

I think it is more likely that Elidibus will have stolen Varis' body and used the Empire's Allagan tech to rebuild him, possibly hypertuned. If Zenos is to come back, he will have to pay a price for his 'death', bringing him back hale and healthy wouldn't feel as good narratively. Elidibus infiltrating the Empire would actually be a decent twist, and would explain the creepy turn that the Magitek has started to take since the Empire lost Nero

I wonder if in later expansions Ala Migho becomes a fully explorable city like Ul'Dah and Ishgard etc with Raubhan being the leader of his own city.

Well, reports of Thoderic's madness were not exaggerated. Loved seeing the Transformation buff/debuff on all the monsters in Skalla and how the boss death cutscene was done. If that's the kind of stuff that was going on... yeah... I can see some people thinking any government, even an Garlean one, is better then his.

Thank goodness it was Krile that Fordola's Resonance was based off of. Can you imagine if it was the WoLs? And if Fordola's Resonance was based of Krile's, whose was Zenos' based off of? We've potentially got two people with the Echo running around and we have no idea who they are. Or... the Asicans have the Echo. And screwing with the Garleans by giving them a really messed up way to manipulate aether is right up their ally. And they'd definitely be the ones who would know the Echo can control primals (the boss in the Stone Vigil taken up to eleven?).

I feel like the reason Arenvald gets where Fordola is coming from (at least a little) is going to be overlooked by a lot of people in-universe. If Fordola and Arenvald's past is anything to go by, the Ala Mhigans have a bad track record of dealing with people who are connected with the Garleans even if they're the ones who didn't decide to have that connection. As far as I can tell, Fordola doesn't like the Garleans or the Ala Mighgans, but she went with the Garleans because they were winning at the time. Arenvald says that he isn't going to stay in Ala Mihgo either because he's got really bad memories of it. And they're not the only NPCs who have this problem with the Ala Mhigans. In any case, nothing has been said about what is going to happen to people who were stuck in the middle, and I get the feeling that's going to come up again in later patches.

One of the things that's bothered me about Ifrit and now Lakshmi is that it seems their followers can somehow temper people without the primals themselves being there. The Scions anyway act like this is how the Qalyana got people to speak up for them, but... I don't know, it's always rubbed me the wrong way. Unless I'm missing something maybe...

Everything with Nanamo is gold. I especially like how she doesn't call on the Scions for help/adivice. Instead she calls on us. We've come a long way since ARR, that's for sure.

I really can't tell anything about Yotsuyo. I can see it being amnesia, I can see her faking it, I can see it being a bit of both (remembering things with no context). What I do know is that Gosetsu doesn't think she's a threat to him. And I find that very foolish of him.

Same thing goes for the Garlean scene. I don't know who it is listening in, and I don't know what they're upset about. For all I know, they're annoyed that the Garleans don't think the Alliance really offed Zenos and think the Garleans are setting themselves up to underestimate the Alliance and WoL.

Not much to comment on since I've never played FFXII or Tactics. Which I should probably fix. That said, it is nice to get some in-game confirmation that Varis is shaping up to be a different kind of Emporer then Solus was, even to his own people. Also, if you look closely in the cutscenes, Jenomis (Arazlam) has the third Garlean eye. So if Orran was his ancestor, what race was Orran (and everyone else involved with The War of the Lions)?

Every time I see auracite, I think back to what Unukalhai told us about it. I'm wondering if he'll show up by the end of the raid series, if simply to yell at a bunch of people about what overusing it can lead to. I'd bring popcorn.

About primal tempering: It's a simple process; you just bathe the victim in the primal's aether. You don't need the primal itself to be there. What the beast tribes do, is save samples of their primal's aether, so they can still temper people without a full-blown summoning. This has also been seen with the Sahagins (a beast tribe daily quest involves rescuing some prisoners who were being dunked in Leviathan's aether) and the Sylphs (those things emitting gas in the Sylphlands, on the world map, are actually pumping Ramuh's aether into the air. Anyone without the Echo cannot stay for too long around those spots.).

Xelphatol also showed that it's possible for a primal to be summoned only momentarily, so that's how the beast tribes get their primal aether: summon while we're not looking, with only a small supply of crystals.

    So, about the MSQ:

Well.. it being Krile's Echo actually made Fordola quite powerful.. Krile isn't a fighter, but Fordola is, so that allowed Fordola to pull off those dodge moves.
The WoL's Echo so far seems like a jack of all trades kind of thing, which allows the WoL to learn about anything quickly they put their minds on, but doesn't give quick immediate power.. it needs time to grow.

I'm mostly happy that it's implied that Krile has not come to any physical (aetherial) harm, and likely still possesses her Echo. What Zenos' Echo template is, is a mystery, but I'd not be surprised if it's an Ascian (given that the Ascian Echo is attuned to allow possession/fusion).

About tempering.. I wrote about the same time as Mysterysword explained in the previous post, so not gonna duplicate that.

Glad I'm not the only one distracted by Gosetsu's calmness. You'd think after getting shot and having a building fall on top, atleast he would have tied her up. There's something more than amnesia or faking. Not from Tsuyu's perspective but Gosetsu's. I mean even with amnesia, she would need to be tied/watched for her own safety wandering on her own instead of giving sweetbread gils. Bringing her to Hien makes me think they have some history before Doma Castle event.

Many shows character growth which make this patch great. My favorite part is Nanamo and Raubahn. I hope she learns to be more flexible in public not as Lady Lilira, or without Raubahn's counsel. Especially now she knows how to pull Monetarists strings. The rest others have said it in this thread, looking forward what they unfold.
