So, which will be harder to score? Shirogane, or the existing zones?

    Case in point:

there will likely be 12 new wards in Shirogane, with 60 plots on each, for a total of 720 plots (96 large, 168 medium and 456 small). Those plots will be rushed by ALL, both new and existing house owners.

On the other hand, there are the existing housing zones, Mist, Lavender Beds and Goblet. The only plots that will be made available on those are from the people who both DESIRE and MANAGE to relocate to Shirogane (not EVERYONE who currently owns a house will want to relocate, specially because it's not free). I think it's safe to say that only a fraction of those will score a house in Shirogane, which means there'll be only a handful of plots in each zone being vacated due to relocation in the Shirogane (Savage) process.

Now, there WILL be people camping the 3 zones as well. There WILL be dozens in each zone entrance monitoring the wards closely for any plots that vacate, both homeless people and ones who want to relocate BETWEEN the 3 existing zones. There will ALSO be a bloodbath on those, and given that there will be much less plots available for grabs on those, one can possibly expect a fierce competition there as well.

And now I turn to ask... which of the 2 above you guys think will be the bloodiest competition? Which of those 2 objectives you'd think will be harder for someone who doesn't currently own a house and wants a place to call his own? Where will more blood be spilled?

But that's my point... The 3 zones will have many less plots available. Which you think will be the bloodiest warzone?

I currently own a medium plot in the Goblet. (Yes, in Balmung). I'll try to move to Shirogane, so I've got my guns, bullets, survival rations and a couple of grenades ready.

Shirogane, because I'd bet my left nut that most, if not all of the old plots (especially old FC ones) have agreements in place where someone will be waiting outside the old plot for the FC lead to buy the new one.

I'll go ahead and actually answer the question being posed ITT.

Frankly, I think it's going to be a bloodbath across the board in different ways, but I think your absolute best bet will be to go for something in Shirogane. Understand that everyone is looking for ways to "trick" the general populace. I.E., everyone is going to bumrush wards 4-9 or so because they're under the assumption that everyone will go for 1-3 or 10-12. The old wards? Yeah, some people are going to clear out, but many more will be staying there, and others will be attempting to swipe up the handful of plots that actually open.

Essentially, anything "out of the box" you can think of has already been thought of. *shrug* Depending on the business of your server, it comes down to a matter of luck, really. Best thing you can do is hope for the best.

    Balmung expectations-

I think rushing Shirogane is the safest option simply because there is more to go around.

Because theres no set number or guaranteed open plots, the old areas are going to be a MESS. Goblet's new swimming area is (imo) the prettiest of the three so if any of the houses near the brimming heart free up I expect nothing short of blood, tears & angry rants. Mist looks similar to Shirogane so I don't see any of the nicer plots opening nor do I expect major fights over houses with boring views. Admittedly I have never spent much time in Lavender Beds so I dunno how popular they'll be.

    On top of all that,

The "candidates/vacant plot ratio" is bad for Shirogane, but I'm expecting the one for the 3 old zones to be much worse. I was planning to camp for a plot in mist, but after coming to this realization I'm REALLY having second thoughts... (I hail from Behemoth, BTW)

To score a plot in Mist / Lavender Beds / Goblet, you'll need:
    1. Someone who owns a house there to WANT to leave.
    2. That person needs to actually MANAGE to leave.
    3. That person must not have an agreement with someone that'll be camping the placard to grab it the second it's vacant
    4. You need to happen to be watching that specific ward the moment it vacates (if you were cycling through other wards at that precise moment, you'll probably lose it to someone who happened to be lucky)
    5. You need to have less lag / loading times than the other people who managed to fulfill the above conditions
    6. You need to know the shortest route to that specific placard - THE ONLY FACTOR YOU CAN CONTROL.

I don't know, seems like a way, WAY worse game than Shirogane will be...

I don't understand why they don't implement the double of wards for overpopulated worlds. I mean, there are some servers that were maintaining a high level of active players for years, so they should have expected this to happen. They tried to patch it when it was too late. They locked them out, incentivated migrations (no cost, benefits). However, according to the last census, Balmung (for instance) is still the most active server.

    This.

I have already seen people discussing this for the past few weeks in several of my linkshells.
