    A summoner question

Okay, I have no idea where to go with this because its a question on pet interaction with quest objects, but is it intended that your pet killing/destroying a quest linked objective (say bestman tribe asking you to destroy a tower) will offer zero gains towards you or your task or am I doing something wrong?

The pet is counted as my character "attacking" via proxy like it is in other games right? (I play scholar most of the time because queues take forever otherwise.)

If your pet is doing something that should progress a quest then yes, that should also show progress.
It might be based on proximity though so if you manage to have your pet do something when you are quite the distance away it might not count.
I'm not sure in what situation you would only kill something with only your pet though seeing how most DPS stems from your character itself.

I had first noticed it during one of the Amal'jaa beast quests. There was one to basically kill 3 enemies for drops and one for destroying 2 towers in the area.

I sent the pet to attack a tower while I killed the 2 "guards" near it and it didn't count at all. Same for setting it to fight a sprite while I killed another near it to get both at the same time and i only got one (highly assumed to be from the one i killed personally).

They aren't very high level for me anymore, but I thought it was really weird considering most other games if you let the pet fight something it still counts towards the tasks in question.
And honestly, I noticed that if sent it to fight something that I wasn't focused on (say a mob that had proximity aggression), it wouldn't give any experience when it fell by the pet alone. (small as the amount may be, it adds up with quest experience).

It's an anti-bot measure from back in the ARR days. Bots used to just sic their tank pets on nearby mobs for exp farm/certain valuable drops and keep them alive with Sustain. Didn't matter that that was slow as balls when you're a bot, it could be 100% automated with no real danger to the bot character. Because of that, SE changed it to where the player needs to actually aggro the mob or object in question as well (didn't do much against ACN bots who would just cast a single Ruin II on everything in sight and have their tank pet AOE it all up, but an attempt was made).

Having your pet be the sole source of aggro will not only skimp you on quest credit, but exp and mob drops, too. At least tag it with a dot before letting your pet go to town.
