I could not disagree more. This does not solve the issue, it just changes who gets left out. That's just going to create more angry people.

People are going to be left out as it is. This just reshuffles to give a larger amount of people a chance which it should. Talk about it solving the crisis overall is another topic because SE will not deal with the real issues before the new ward is released. The foreseeable future we all know the out lining problem will persist. This is the best solution in the context of the current system as is over the same people taking plot after plot.
As I said this is a different issue because something like that huge of a revamp would take time and energy. We do not have much time before new plots are released and would it least make things more fair. People are going to be angry regardless but the reason will be because they lost the lottery over not having the shot it least.Forget about instanced housing and bad “solutions”, they should just make more wards, we are not in the same situation we were 3 years ago, the game has more subs, a cash shop, and we even have to pay 30$ for each fan fest stream, they have the money, we just have to DEMAND it.

Adding wards is not a revamp, they just have build new servers and copy the structure of the existing ones dedicated to housing, and then do some tweaks to adapt it to the new hardware, it takes time, and money (they have a lot of this), but if they wanted they could have it done withing 2 months, 1 for the arrival of the components and another one for the preparations and testing.

If anything, this would lessen the potential plots. What stops someone with five alts making a bid on multiple plots? You've just made it easier since now they wouldn't have to log out and battle the queues.People are going to be left out as it is. Simply put: If you have an alt and have multiple bids, if any character gets a plot, all alts are automatically put to the bottom of the queue for priority (meaning unless there isn't enough people with higher priority bidding on one, you don't get it guaranteed), like I mentioned earlier. Perhaps to stop differing service accounts, use anything that could tie accounts to the same person (such as on the same service account, same address, etc) in the calculation for finding alts to stop separate service accounts being used to bypass it.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

If they can't make a system where houses are per account, what are the odds they would flag an auction like this? Now if they could... why not simply lock houses to your account so people couldn't double up in the first place?Simply put: If you have an alt and have multiple bids, if any character gets a plot, all alts are automatically put to the bottom of the queue for priority (meaning unless there isn't enough people with higher priority bidding on one, you don't get it guaranteed), like I mentioned earlier. Purely statistically this is extremely unlikely but possible. The benefits, I would argue, outweigh that risk based on pure numbers.

Then you don't get a house. So if someone has a job that refused to let them have the the time off, they should do what? Or if you have to suddenly stay late at work due to an emergency and not dealing with it could cost you? Or you get stuck in traffic on the way home?
The OP suggested a fairer way and so many people cannot grasp that not everyone can log in at the right time and thus miss out. For a game that loves to dumb its ass down for everyone, housing is a constant failure.
Am I the first person to the plot? Yes: I win! No: Its on me! imo, its plenty fair.
A lottery system would favor people that have:
- multiple characters
- multiple accounts
- huge FCs
solo players and small FCs would be sol in a lottery based system. Its the exact same situation when my friends and I buy tickets to comic con lol. The one person going alone is against groups of people working as teams. Its a huge disadvantage.
Luckily we are able to create programming that takes that into account. You can game the system to a degree with multiple accounts but having twice the chance over the other person is still better odds for the other person then having no chance because they cannot log in on servers being brought up.Then you don't get a house.

How do you suggest we go about making it fair for FCs?Luckily we are able to create programming that takes that into account.
