A lottery solves nothing. Putting this behind RNG would make it exceptionally worse. Might as well just lock it behind Gold Saucer if you're going to be like this.

Make the price per house higher if SE insists on giving us a housing shortage. there is too much gil in the game, let people have houses that put the most work in getting one. Issue solved.
Also let us bid for the houses, that is another way to address it.
Having it locked behind RNG is why people are mad, and that is how the current system is, rng you do nto get d/ced, rng you go to a plot that a group of people with a system is not eying, and so on.
yeah the starting prices should have been raised for Shirogane.Make the price per house higher if SE insists on giving us a housing shortage. there is too much gil in the game, let people have houses that put the most work in getting one. Issue solved.

Currently, a mansion might cost 50 million and degrades to 25 million minimum over time until purchased. In Shirogane that mansion should have been 100-200 million and degraded over time to that same 25 million minimum. I actually made this suggestion in a housing thread months ago... then again, not sure that would have made a difference too much gil in the game and not enough sinks.

I don't even plan on getting a house, but... hmmm... no.
I have a solution. create about 5 plots in every realm reborn area. These spots can't be separated into wards so will cost an insane amount of gil (like 100mil).

Logging in on patch day to a 1031 queue IS a lottery

A lottery system would solve nothing. It just changes who is mad because they didn't get a house. We've all known for a while now when this was happening. If you didn't plan ahead and get a day off that is entirely your problem.
With this game being a Japanese game things like big updates launch at a bad time for those of us in the USA. 6am est is pretty darn early for most of us. However, here I am, sitting in a queue trying to get a bigger house for my fc. Yeah there's a good chance I still won't get one, but I am here trying.

Would not solve the issue.
NEVER have RNG “solve” issues like this.
No amount of housing plot additions would solve this issue.
SE would have to change the way they go about this and they won’t.
That is the quagmire we are currently in. Unfortunately as long as the current system stays the same the truth of the matter is house flipping and a select few whom are professionals in the race will always win with only minor exceptions. As you can see I am awake and was able to log in to attempt the race but since I have a house on my main account and have had the same spot in the Lav beds for years I am not affected. I have seen the same group of people win the majority of the houses again in the new ward. I am not surprised but I guess its a damned if you do or if you don't scenario. Me personally I would have had a preference of an automated system choose for me over knowing ahead of time the same group would win the majority of the race but eh Lottery is overwhelmingly shut down. Guess the rat race wins. The ward system will not change or they would not have released new wards and would have opted for a remake of the entire house system. I feel it is going to stay and will remain the defacto system from now on. SE only had the stomach to rebuild a system once. They will not touch housing while the game is doing this well.

Story time. Back in my undergrad days, my university sold student season football tickets via a first come, first serve basis. My dorm mates and I stood in line six hours in the sweltering heat. The person two bodies in front of me got the very last season ticket; the window was shut in the face of the guy in front of me, who started sobbing on the edge of the windowsill. A riot broke out. Someone threw water bottles. No major injuries, but the university decided to end the policy of first come, first serve.
They put in place a weighted lottery. Brand new freshman got one entry, sophomores a larger number, and by senior year you were guaranteed a set as long as you registered.
Amazingly, the next year, everyone who applied for it got a season ticket, because so many people said, "Meh, it's a lottery, I won't win." After that, most freshman still got them, and all sophomores on up did.
Twenty years later I now work for the university, and they do the same thing for the faculty/staff season tickets. First years get a low chance, but 2nd+ can at least get some crappy seats.
There are now some FCs who have gone for years without a house, because the demand is so high. A weighted lottery that gives the oldest homeless FCs first crack at the houses via a lottery for the next set of wards would be more than fair, I think.
