The Game Is Amazing, Everything Else.... Not So Much

The launcher: Its incredibly wonky, it is by far the worse application I have ever had to deal with. I've downloaded some very crappy 3rd party applications but they make this app look like a trailer park.

The launcher is just terrible, apart from the antivirus there is the patch detection problems, the slow launch of it, the slow everything.

On top of that if I forget my password I have to get banned for several minutes or remake it and by the way I tend to be forgetful so I've probably spent hours by now dealing with this shit.

These websites are by far some of the most cluttered, hard to navigate websites I ever seen. From trying to download the damned game, to trying to find the launcher to trying to just post a goddamned forum. Its honestly very dissapointing.

I stopped subbing to FFXIV originally solely because of the very badly made launcher.

EDIT: I realize this did not say much good about the game itself: The game itself I feel is the best made MMO for up to where I am currently. It has a TON of leveling features and the story is by far the most interesting Ive found in an MMO which makes Rift, Tera, WoW, SToR, Warframe, and even some games itself that aren't MMOs have worse stories than this one and I generally enjoyed many different stories. In this MMO I feel like I cant go forward in the main quest without reading its story.

I dont know much about Endgame since Im not there but I will say I have high hopes for it based upon what I heard and seen on Twitch.

The launcher I have found is fixed by disabling Antivirus so far, however, as new patches come I am still worried ill come across problems. I right now have no problems signing in, it is the random problems I have came across and I originally stopped subbing because I added this launcher as a URL and Application exception for my antivirus and it still wouldn't work and after literally 3 hours of trying to research to get it work, I went to play WoW. I did not realize at the time that the launcher still wont work even if you add an exception for it on the antivirus and you have to disable the antivirus completely.

The launcher also takes very long in my standards to load, it takes around 10 seconds on my SSD to load and I constantly have to enter my password for the game when all other launchers: GoG, Battlenet, Steam, Origins, etc not only save your password but also allow a 1 time use authentication for its computer. Thats just bad competitive attitude when it comes to launchers which are now far more better coded than this one.

This website is by far the worse I've seen and I mean when it comes to AAA games. Bethesda, EA, Steam, Paladins, PoE, and many other websites with their forums have a far more updated, less cluttered website. Its like SE is saying, "Let's focus all our resources into this game and this game alone." And that is a very, very bad marketing strategy. Sure you save some money, but in long term people need a place that's stable, useful, and updated to voice their opinions and go to and look around. Games dont generally last long without this and consoles are dying out rather quickly since their user base isn't nearly as active as PC users or as numerous. With apps like Twitch becoming more useful on PCs than consoles and Consoles becoming more and more expensive in order to stay updated and be able to stream at high quality. Streaming is becoming a way for people to play video games and have their friends to come in and chat with them. This will hurt this MMO if they do not integrate to these new fads and right now FFXIV streaming wise isn't going too well and that's a problem for long term investing.

Upgrade your website, your launcher, making your application better for streaming by adding streaming features, events for streaming, etc. Invest more heavily into PCs and less into Consoles and make everything more simplistic, user friendly, and efficient for those who are good at advanced use.

I would like to clarify that I have been very patient with the launcher, the websites, paying them, and everything else. I try my best to be chill and enjoy a video game because I am not here to get angry, throw my keyboard like a child, and go around calling people a big poopy pants. I am here to be entertained and enjoy myself, and I sometimes have to remind myself that. However, this launcher, websites, and payment system has tested my patience in a way that I didnt think was possible normally. I feel like a child has a nail and keeps poking me in the face with it and I cant do anything but to sit there and not get mad at him. I love the game and the community and though there are bad seeds, this community is by far the most generally kindest, non-trollish community I have seen and maybe its partially because of the patience everyone needs to deal with the quirks of everything else but the game.

I dont know how to like your post but +1 on the sole reason I cant figure out how to like your post LOL. They just need to get rid of this 1995 launcher and websites and they'd be good to go. They get more than enough money to buy enough manpower to do it so I honestly dont know why they dont. Blizzard lasted this long because they did everything in their power to make their launcher, website, and game as friendly and easy to use as possible.

It's just outdated, it's not that bad. I have seen far worse. Out of date launchers like this seem to be fairly common among asian games. Not making excuses for SE, I'd love for the launcher to be updated. Just saying it's not uncommon.

I have once had a patch detection issue but never found the launcher to be slow to load or slow to launch the game.

Sorry but that's your fault. Regardless of what the service it's your responsibility to remember your password. Even if you don't use it frequently you will certainly need it sometimes.

The Lodestone is alright, but the SE main site could use some work. The Mog Station looks like something straight out of 2001. It needs a serious update. Navigating it is so clunky and finding account related information can be tiresome.

Have you tried googling your issues? If it's so bad that you are quitting the game then something must be wrong at your end.

You can get around that by editing your post. It takes away the character limit. I agree that it is very silly.

My hubby is not very good at remembering passwords as well. He started using an app called password keeper a couple of years ago. He swears by it now. Not only does it keep your passwords so you never forget a password again, it also generates passwords for him. Just thought, cos you said you were forgetful with your passwords maybe something like that would help you?

The launcher is fine. The lodestone can use some quality of life improvements, but is otherwise fine. The mogstation needs an overhaul, but it's not terrible.

If the launcher stressed you this much, maybe it's best to just leave this game. I have a feeling you will find more faults with the game if you continue playing.

Yes the password thing is my fault but its very 'silly' the way the system works.

Yes, of course I researched how to get the launcher working, how do you think I figured out how to get it working now? I had to add an exception to my antivirus, turn it off, uninstall, it and then reinstall EVERYTHING because it wouldn't detect the patches afterwards this is unacceptable and I should not have spent over 20 hours just trying to play the game when there is another game that's never wasted my time with its launcher.
