Housing: there has to be a better way

The part that makes me laugh about this situation the most is how little use houses see even on high population servers. I'm sure it's a bit more lively on Balmung , but here on Ultros I rarely see anyone else in the housing district at all. Thirty houses in the zone every single one is owned but my guild of 4 people ,and one other up the hill are the only people who are ever there. Do people really need to own a house they visit once a month? On the other hand why did SE think a limited market was a good idea? For being a former MMO player Yoshi signs off on a lot of obvious problems.

I get what your saying here. Even on Balmung some wards can be rather dead. The ward I'm in, there a large FC house next to mine and I see about a whole 3-5 people from that FC standing about. Me on the other hand, I live in my house with a good friend that I play with. It the only place the both of us warp to and sit in. We rarely go to our FC house. We prefer staying in our own house and using it. So yea, some people have a house and rarely ever touch it and maybe them people have it just to say, "I have a house." and whole status thing, however, there are the few of us that use it ever day of almost every hour.

I've said this once before though and I'll say it again, I bet anything this has to do with console limits. Even after PS3 was dumped. I can't find any other reason behind it other then that, really old god damn servers they are using, or SE just being lazy af. And since they don't want to give us a real answer on what the problem is, anyone guess is as good as the next.

The PS4 actually runs XIV quite well, it could probably handle what would be required of it. What's holding XIV back now is the server hardware and such...and probably a lack of funding to do anything major with it or anything else. What we need is an upgrade from the ground up, and that would no doubt take a lot of time and money...something I'm not sure SE wants to do.

Lack of funding I find hard to believe. There may not be 10mil+ people paying for their subs but I'm pretty sure we've got a huge active player base. Add that on top of their Mog Station purchases made and there should be more then enough to at least apply a fix that is reasonable. Even just making a fix of one house per account would stop people from using their alts to buy up plots only to resell them for 10x more. It not a long term fix for high pop servers, but it shows that they are willing to TRY and fix their horrible system.

Also I'm not saying that the PS4 doesn't run well with XIV - but step back and ask this... what other MMO has housing and is on console?

When people say Square Enix is lacking server or they are doing a hard job and being stressed.... I am wondering if they are just sympathizing to a point they only care about their gameplay basis instead of trying to help others to get the content they want. Majority of them don't want housing. But how is that affecting them comparing to those who want housing and want to do that for their enjoyment of the game?

They need to do something about it. I've been really waiting for this but it's literally a slim chance for 4.1 that I get a single plot.0

I posted this in another thead, but this would be my suggestion:

Why don't they just have 1 week before the patch when people can go to the plot they want and register a bid? When you bid, you all pay the same full price and the gil will be held by the system. During maintenance, the server randomly draws one bid for each plot and the plot is given to the lucky bidder. When server opens, gil for failed bids are returned in the mail.

Also let people see how many bids have already been registered for each plot, during the bidding week, and allow people to retract on their bids at most once every 18 hours without gil penalty. Each service account can only make one bid per server.

It's way better than making time zone the determining factor and becoming a disruption to real life schedule.

Obviously, the even better solution is to stop this nonsence with limited availability.

Have you not read countless replies from people?
Hardly any socializing happens in wards, i get it is nice to see homes and the like but i for one would much rather even have a house and others as well who are unable to ever log in because of work and the like. Not trying to argue at all but we as a community must stand up to this horrid system which is almost as bad as the rng system they use

I'll be at work when servers come back up, so my chances of getting a house in Shirogane is nil. I really hate the housing system in this game. I have to wonder which developer thought it was a good idea when there are so many better examples of housing out there already.

So today morning, I managed to get 500 in queue. When I got on, every single large house had been bought already, and there were a few mediums left that got bought up faster than I could run to them. It's pretty obvious the supply is far lower than the demand.

And unsurprisingly Larges are selling for 450mil on reddit already.
