It's taking too long to implement Jump.

What a good idea for a thread, interesting to read and so nice and civil. ^^

    [Reason why you're stopping/quitting FFXIV]
Not enough to do, and most of what is there to do is either too boring/tedious for me (like crafting) and/or involves having a group to do. I am also rather miffed by the class changes. They may not be bad, and I know jobs are coming, but as it stands I really miss my (former) Thaumaturge. Additionally. I recently started playing a certain newly released MMO that entertains me far more, and I don't want to pay for two MMO's at once.

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
    - Graphics
    - The game world -- regions, monsters, lore, etc. I enjoy the touch of whimsy.
    - Character/gear aesthetics. The characters are not overly sexualized, and cute and pretty things are not taboo. As a female player (that -gasp!- actually likes "feminine" things), this helped me feel more welcome.
    - The fact that gear was almost all made by players, not dropped from mobs. It was so nice to rank up, then just go to the market and buy a whole new set of gear, instead of getting it in random pieces as drops.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
    - Not enough to do.
    - The crafting grind was just so boring. With my set up I can't do the "watch netflix and spam enter" thing, so I had to actually pay attention to crafting. I got to 45 in my main craft but it took me many many months.
    - Lack of gear choices. The designs are great, but limited, and I dislike that it has become even more restricted recently. It really bugged me that I had so few choices in what my L50 character could wear that was "good" gear.
    - Poor social support -- linkshell management, look for group, etc.

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?]
Fix the above, obviously, but other than that? I want this game to have lots of players for me to play with. And I don't want it to include excessive tedium and invoke a feeling that I am banging my head into a brick wall when I do some endgame content.

I think this game has great potential, and I look forward to seeing 2.0, but that is a long way away. I have played since launch (stopped logging in about a month ago, aside from checking out the last patch) and just got tired of waiting. I've traded my staff for a blaster pistol for now, though I'm not writing FFXIV off entirely.

The game feels corrupted and incomplete right now, in that the economy's pretty damaged (whilst lots of people still hoard gil from the old guild leve rewards etc), power levelling has given made levelling somewhat meaningless and generally the quality of the game just isn't where it should be to justify me paying. If 2.0 is up to the standard of modern day MMOs I'll probably be able to convince some friends to come play with me on a new server, I'm looking forward to that fresh experience already.

Also I fucking hate guild leves, make them more fun or find another way for casual levelling, they make other games' questing manage to look appealing. Bring in GW2 style events for repeatable content to level on or something, hamlet defence is a good start. Some of the new content added (like chocobo escorts and the 'oh-so exciting outposts') really isn't up to par, so that needs to be addressed too.

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
The lore, the art style, the scale of the world (It's nice to feel like your character is part of a world, rather than a god flying over it on his meta-chromatic-cyber-dragonlord of spacetime). The story missions are something I want to enjoy, but right now the quality isn't good enough, and they're far to spread out.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
The story! What the hell, how is this a final fantasy when you get one story mission every 6 levels that involves generally limited and mundane objectives? Why don't I start in an airship crash or some other usual FF-style opening sequence, and then have to travel through some crazy FF environments before getting into the proper MMO scene (evil forest or something?). It feels like this FF MMO has the potential to deliver a true FF experience if the next engine is up to scratch, and the story really needs to be a centrepiece of that.

Also guild-leves and general levelling methods, whined about it before so won't go over that again. Ditch repeatable boring quests, introduce events and spontaneous occurances (giant roaming NMs that attack towns, anyone nearby can get involved without partying up to get xp etc). It's a final fantasy game, exploration to find these kinds of fun events should be promoted!

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
New UI (coming), HUGE reduction in lag (coming?), new mage classes (comingbutTIMEMAGEPLEASE), restructuring of levelling so that it's meaningful to the overall game and fun enough that you don't feel like you're just waiting for the cap. I also want some validation that Yoshida's actually bringing new stuff to the table as well as looking at 1st and borderline 2nd generation MMOs for influence, because new technology is definitely capable of more than he seems to imply (see: recent PvP post for relatively short-sighted idea of how things should be as an example).

Please don't make everything instanced, too. I like instances but I also like the feeling of a world that's active with people travelling about all over the place. Whilst Abyssea wasn't necessarily the best thing for FFXI, it definitely did some things right (not atma, definitely not atma) like the whole spawned NM systems that could be introduced as various levels of filler for gear etc between tiers.
This kind of content can be challenging, and could also contain unusual non-mainstream gear for alternative builds that are reminiscent of FFXI's style (e.g. Different gear sets had huge effects on your character, but you didn't need lots, I'm not advocating gear swaps frequently here).

I really want this game to do well, I've enjoyed previous online and offline games by Square enix. However, the sheer scale of things that need to be done leaves me skeptical of just how good 2.0 can be. I really hope the devs can pull it off and I'll certainly be back in 2.0 to try everything out!

Edit: I should add whilst reading up that in terms of patches post-2.0, a primal battle can NOT count as 3 months of battle content. I get that this almost certainly won't be the case as they've got a lot on right now beyond just what we're getting in front of us, but if we were getting a whole bunch of different stuff to do each patch I'd be happy to give them my money between now and 2.0 despite the game's engine flaws, but that isn't the case.

Edit2: Just wanted to add; OJtheLIONKing I love your thinking, here's hoping some of this stuff gets added.

    Edit3: CAPES!

Can't justify spending more time and money on this game when the majority of it is content that I've played in the past since Collector's release.

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
The FF ties to the line; Moogles, Chocobos, Primals (Eventually). The graphics were nice and the almost seamlessness of the world. The being able to level up as many jobs on one character as you please, unlike other MMOs. Cut scenes were awesome, just few and far between.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
~Main Storyline was not a story, but a introduction of a game a couple years in the future.
Not being able to RIDE chocobos or cast summons from the start. Hearing summons may not be an individual action but one of a group of people, making the whole concept interesting, but discouraging as well.

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
Server population, maybe a merge. I know its not 100% the Dev's fault, but when I log onto a game that needs a lot of people to do stuff but not a lot are on; It becomes tricky to quickly forming a group and getting 1-2 things accomplished before logging off in 2-3 hours.

I've loved the Final Fantasy line for as long as I can remember, and sadly I was never able to experience 11 like how I wanted. I really look forward coming back somewhere between 1.21 and 2.0 to be able to be part of what will be an awesome experience. I'll miss all my friends of Palamecia, but until I see some sort of reasonable cause to pay for this game, I'll return in due time. Best wishes to the Devs, I know they'll turn this empty canvass to an extravagant adventure awaiting all.

Theres very few things that I can say that haven't been said before. Players keep asking for specific things that just aren't given to us i.e. an Auction House, bare bones content, big wide empty maps. I mean for a world that is absolutely open and gorgeous its empty. Aside from crafting and grinding (crafting itself is grinding) theres not alot to do. Sure there are a few side quests and the main quest is something to follow. But without a linkshell or anyone to socialize with your pretty much on your own to find anything to do. When you compare this to a game like WoW when your put in a starting area there's a quest giver immediately in front of you and you pretty much instinctively know "Hey that guy will give me stuff to do". There's so much this game does wrong that older MMO's don't have that problem. I mean it seems that they are just too stubborn to do things their way that they forget we aren't actually enjoying this game. The menu navigation is just aweful... I mean I have to go trough 3 selection screens before I can check my journal to see where I am in a quest. The quest (npc given quests not leves) themselves are hard to follow, the map offers no arrows or indication of how to get from one point to another. EX: In the "Cut throat prices" quest the NPC tells me that I should take an airship to another nation and talk to a different NPC there. Ok simple enough... only I don't know where the airship station is. And I don't know where the Ruby Way is in Ul'Dah. It took an hour and some change before I carefully check both map and journal and find that the ruby way is a merchant strip in Ul'dah and the lift to the airship station is at one of the corners. Well that was a pain but whatever Imma ride an Airship! So I get on the airship and I have to find the sea ship that the other NPC is so I can turn in the quest but... I have noooo Idea where the ship is and I've never been in LL so i had to actually look online for a quest guide to figure out where to go. Note to developers: When a player has to go to an outside source to figure a quest out... you need to rethink that quest. SO anyway I get to the NPC and turn in the quest... then the NPC starts talking first off he has like NO vowels in his name so and he is scripted to talk like a pirate. Pirate talk is easier to listen to then read so every 'L' in a word is replaced with an apostrophe -->' (one of those) and he uses weird metaphors and phrases so I'm spending 5 minutes on each paragraph just figuring out WTF he's saying. No joke. And another thing, as smooth as everything looks in the game... NOTHING IS SMOOTH. Like why do I have to teleport to the airship docking area... why cant I just talk to an NPC to board? It seems kind of redundant that I have to teleport to an area that pretty much transports me to another area... I mean WTF. And who thought is was a good idea to have the leve quest system? Repeating the same slaying/gathering quest over and over to level is tedious!

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
Its hard to say... When you have other people to interact with and do leves with it becomes fun. but eventually the fun factor wheres off and you remember that your actually grinding.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
I bought the collectors edition of FFXIV so I got the making of DVD, the nice key chain authenticator and the cool journal to hand record my characters chronicle. I played this game a week before everyone else did only to find out that I am not enjoying anything I'm putting into this game.

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
Auction house. a better UI and simple menu system. improved game fluidity. no more crafting minigame thing... it gets boring after the first dozen times.

Srsly Square its a little insulting that your making us pay for what is technically a beta and for a product that is infirior to what Square is generally known for. This product has problems that other and much older MMO's have figured out and it seems that as advanced the presentation quality is of FF XIV it is actually behind the times in terms of it's gameplay. The fact that my character can be any class I want is starting to be your only gimmick. Please do a little market research and have some of your staff play other MMO's just to get an idea of what approaches to take to remedy the short comings of FFXIV. I'm not saying straight out copy other MMO's but dammit it doesn't look like your staff can find the right solutions on their own.

-lack of content (main story, sidequests, guild quests)
    -hardly any voiceacting
-not enough armor, clothing and weapons
-hardly any diversity in leve quests
-map sections for your level are too small, they are fine now but they are supposed to be for hunderds of players at the same time
-hardly any map diversity, thats also because i play on low setting but there are hardly any fundamental changes
-lack of monster diversity and tactics
    -lack of dungeons
    -lack of mini games

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
-playing with others, random and linkshell
    -story curscenes
    -mini game

    -its actually just not enough
-dont know if i can say it but the introduction of party sp in december totally ruined the fun parties i had before that, i hate sp parties lol, sorry
-the battle system seems to get slower
-its not really a final fantasy for me, i dont know it looks like one but when i play it its just another game

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
-the roadmap looked good but i hope there is more on the horizon after that
-subjobs make me thing it will be more of a game you know :P
    [Last comment]
I will be back but for how long is still undecided. If what I see in the roadmap is all there is to get then probably 3-6 months instead of years. I somehow think this is as good as it gets, however i have some form of confidence that the team can turn things around. As it stands now my feelings are that final fantasies should not be online and maybe have a multiplayer section or coop. I think that MMO rules plus this resistance against World of Warcraft have destroyed the whole point of the game. Just make a Final Fantasy ... online. It might be the worst idea ever, but i dont care. I do wish you the best of luck though

Battle system lacks fun. Bad quest writing and no cutscenes. Leves exist where a real game should be.

Mission cutscenes were great though but I need a real ending to a story.

-One of the biggest reasons I don't feel like playing is because the "invite the class, not the player" mindset is still happening. I know there isn't such thing as perfect balance, but it's still depressing seeing people get screwed over on participating events when they don't have the "flavor of the month" leveled, or the flat out don't like that class. Is it really worth playing a class you don't like just to do an event?

-Another thing I really don't like is the low server population. I know it's being fixed in 1.21, so not really worth saying much on this.

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]

    -Poor market system.

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)

-Variety of more content. Full PTs, small PTs, solo, etc.

I really hope Yoshida and the reps are taking these threads seriously. Most of us that are quitting want to see this game rise up from the crap start it had, however this game still has a long ways to go.
