Post reason why you are stopping/quitting to help the devs improve FFXIV

JP side has a thread and I think it's good idea for the devs to see why some players are stopping the current game or quitting the game.

Kind of like questionnaire some places ask when you try to leave/quit their services. FFXI and FFXIV doesn't have one when you choose to not continue their services.

It may give some new ideas for the devs on how to improve the game

Please be polite when posting your reasons and try to make it clean as possible.

And no I'm not quitting/stopping... I'm not letting go of my precious subligars...! I just thought this type of stuff will help the devs out some.

Link to the JP thread: http://goo.gl/zIjaC (too much to translate, use google translate and stuff but might give you some whacky translation lol)

Lack of Content, knowing 2.0 is the real vision, i dont feel like paying for a beta of it, missing basic functions, too many changes to core systems, my server is low pop (mysidia), pretty much all of my RL friends gave up on it...ect

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
New combat system is decent, story is good, but too little of it, People in game are generally nice like FFXI, Just a FF fan, huge on FFXI so i hold a little faith it will become good, it looks pretty?

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
...pretty much the same as why im quiting, slow to update, with more focus on fixing things and not on content so i get bored quick. The god awful joke that was its launch.

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
The world and server changes that allow them to do SO much more are plenty of reason, along with a focus on story and content when its out.

Interesting thread. Please let people post with immunity rather then have this turn into another white knight trampling session. That said I'm not quiting but am interested in peoples` opinions.

I do and don't see why you're making a thread like this Rein, but I just wonder if of the people who are quitting have they played since launch? Are they quitting because this game is very different from what it was at launch, and it's going in a direction they don't like? If so, why should SE be overly concerned with these players' opinions especially since they've captured the opinions/feedback from a majority of the masses who left the game (which I'm guessing was a helluva lot more than what we're going to see in the next few days) weeks after it's launch in the Jan2011 poll?

I mean, if this was Sep/Oct 2010 then yeah, I would for sure see 100% the purpose of a thread like this. But now, after all the changes have taken place based on player feedback from the people who bounced shortly after launch, the feedback here might just consist of angry players who really liked the game how it was during launch and simply have had separation anxiety up until now... (and the post below this pretty much is a perfect example -_-...)

    [Reason why you're stopping/quitting FFXIV]

1.Payment system is a hassle, I want direct pay to SE, not through a third party or use of phoney money.
    2. Fluidity of Main Scenario or side scenarios that are presented. I have a hard time as a player grinding to X level, doing part of a scenario only to have to stop because I am not X level that can maybe activate or even attempt higher level part of main scenario that is supposed to be soloable. That type of story telling makes me as a player forget what has happened the last time I played, since I am a casual player. If people really want to group up to do content such as this, implement a system that automatically calculates difficulty of mob vs. # of people in party vs. the type of party construct. You can't tell me this can't be done, if it's doable in a console game like TES, I am almost certian it's doable in an MMO. That way soloers can solo if they want, and people who want more of a social expierience can have it.
    3. Grinding levels is not fun. I don't feel a real sense of accomplishment when hitting a level.
    4. Auction House! Get one! Market wards were a horrible idea. Wipe them and just add an AH. Having to zone from zone to zone to go get what you need is a hassle and a time sink.
    5. Game was presented as casual friendly. I took that as I could do things solo or duo with someone, not need a group of 1+ to get a chocobo or progress through a story. Leave major group activities for end game things kinda like Dynamis, Sea, Sky etc. from FFXI.6. Lag. I spent a pretty penny making sure my computer could handle running this game, there is no excuse for UI lag or lag of any kind...update your servers or w/e so the data transfer doesn't cause this.
    7. Install a proper customer care service for those of us who have question, issues, concerns, especially with bill pay.

The original armoury system was so much fun. I enjoyed being able to make my character my very own. The current armory system to me feels too constricted, leave the constriction for the jobs, not classes.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
Lack of an auction house, drastic change to armoury system, fluidty of story telling, lack of things to do for people who prefer to solo or do low man group activities, lack of an auto-group feature.

The community is very niche and too "in themselves or their Linkshells" and I'm on a more popular server like Besaid, albeit this is not a developer problem per say. But that is only a minor factor. The main factor is the lack of more focus on the story and the lack of a finished combat system (yes jobs are part of this system) so I will probably come back once they are introduced. Another is the process in which you attach materia to items. ITS VERY ANNOYING! Why can't I just pay an NPC (whom I know will not steal my 300k+ materia) or why can't there be a UI setup where the items never leave my inventory if you (devs) are so heart set on having the crafters attach it? I understand its a MMO, but I also understand there are thieves who don't give a @#$% about other people and are looking to make quick gil.

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
I've really enjoyed the parts of the story that are in the game already (which is why I am so disappointed in the lack there of recently) Also I've really enjoyed the music, both new and old. As well as the quality of the graphics (they are really crisp!) Also comparatively the Gathering in XIV vs XI has made drastic improvements so I've really enjoyed that.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
The similarity of the terrain in XIV...Also the missing region (according to the world map) you can't just go from desert to lush forest in the blink of an eye. Thats unfair to the player, and honestly please DO NOT consider the players who claim "it would be a useless region anyway and a waste of time to travel between" because you have developed ANIMA to teleport anyone anywhere anytime. Also this has been improving a lot over the past few months but the weaponskill animations. (they are looking much better every patch!)

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
A finished combat system where all jobs/classes have an equal chance in making it to the endgame; please don't forget this! A larger general population on each server (server merge if you must to fill up the world!) Mog houses, and a mail/delivery system.

In closing I would like to say that I believe you really rushed the initial launch, but I feel that good things are coming our way in this coming year. I am excited to be part of it (once jobs roll out, plus hopefully the other content will keep me busy), good luck Team on proceeding to make a MMO I know that will be worthy of playing and enjoying!

I am quitting for now - I will keep checking up on the updates and certainly will see how things change once 2.0 is running. I played for about 3/4 of a year and just didn't feel there was enough content available to keep my interest for a fee. There are still too many core problems for me to really feel like my money would be well spent playing this game vs another game.

I am also concerned about the billing system and absolutely want to see how that plays out before I agree to be billed. There seems to already be quite a bit of billing confusion and if I do decide to return after another patch or two, it will not happen for me unless all the billing issues are worked out.

I can afford to play one game only, and for now it will be a different game that gets my vote.

No new content for solo casual players. Leves were never updated or changed or expanded upon. New crafting goals became repeat everything you have already done over the past year.

    [Parts you enjoyed about FFXIV]
The armory system I liked. I liked crafting quite a bit for the first while. Mixing abilities from other classes to create my own play style. Early behest I liked, even though it was super easy, it was fun to just group up in a party and go fight with everyone.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
Main scenario quest was a little disappointing to stop where it did. I was a little disappointed with the combat system so I never really leveled battle classes much.

[What kind of changes do you want to see for you to come back and play?] (optional)
More of the cut-scene type quests/story that solo players may participate in. Just more goals and content geared for the casual player with not much time.

    No jump.

When you jump during Wide Volley.

[Parts you were disappointed with FFXIV]
It's taking too long to implement Jump.

Possibility to Jump on Goobue mounts inside the gates of Ul'dah waiting for The Frontlines PVP queue to finish.
