    Squadron jobs?

Most of the level 60-70 job quest lines have been about teaching our job to a new generation or taking on a pupil, or at least showing that others have started training in that job. So I figured this would be building up to allowing us to teach our squad to advance to jobs.

I mean, are the tank NPCs really going to be able to hold hate without access to tank stances? Will we not be able to gain access to future jobs like drk, ast, mch, rdm and sam? Is cnj going to be the only healer we get access to? I have an arcanist who I was hoping I'd be able to make into a scholar one day.

Now that we are getting the ability to take them into dungeons it would be nice to be able to unlock their jobs. If our retainers can do it I don't see why soilders under our personal training wouldn't be able to.

The anonymity of the internet is what leads people to become jerks online.

You could make a game where all you did was run through fields of flowers holding hands and you'd still get a guy telling you you're doing it wrong.

Would be nice to teach them jobs, but it's by no means necessary. Tank members could simply get a 9999% enmity bonus for all we know and be programmed to always Flash/Unleash/Overpower mobs.

As it stands, though, I don't see any real benefit beyond making us feel good about it to have jobs on squadron members. I would actually even prefer more dungeons be made available before getting squadron jobs.

They have that Independent, Offensive, Defensive, Balanced setting. I think those are your stances (with the initial "Independent" being no stance used).

Though I still agree it would be good to be able to teach them jobs. Maybe that'll be added later.

I don't know if you ever did the level 60+ SCH job quests. The main NPC, Alka Zolka, is a MRD. You get some instanced quests where you venture yourself in some dungeons. The guy snaps aggro perfectly, uses cooldowns and self-healing abilities just fine. I'm guessing the squadron AI will behave like that. The first set of dungeons they are introducing are very easy, mechanically speaking. I don't think they will have issues performing their designed roles. I really don't know either if it's going to be the full dungeon or a "lite" version. However... I'd laugh like a madman if I see the healer dpsing, lmao...

There's lots of solo instances where NPCs fight alongside us. I haven't gotten to those more recent ones, but even in the original ARR instances, NPCs tended to be reasonably good at when to use their abilities. It was in knowing when to move that they seemed pretty idiotic at times, even standing right in the path of AoE time and time again. Have they gotten any better at that part?

Yes, I'm well aware that you have NPCs doing things in a lot of instanced quests, but I'm mentioning the SCH one exactly for that reason.

    SCH quest example:
In the SCH questline, you get into the Lost City of Amdapor (HM) map, and you get to fight Kuribu in almost the same way than the original dungeon. Both the tank and the DPS NPCs were doing all mechanics correctly. The Proximity damage AoE, they were going away, the stack mechanic, they were stacking, they were avoiding AoEs and using defensive/offensive cooldowns.

Thanks. Yes, that sounds quite promising.

I agree with you, having jobs wouldn't serve any functional purpose right now with only 5 dungeons available as all classes/jobs are pretty interchangeable when it comes to dungeons. But if the squad feature is going to be expanded in the future I'd like to know jobs are on the table. If they open up 8 man content for example, I'd want a white mage and a scholar, not 2 conjurers.

If retainers can take a job for 40 ventures, surely Squadron members can too for 40k seals.
