I honestly hope for more of these. As long as the instances don't follow in the footsteps of Darkhold where all we do is run to the boss.

I should qualify those two with I am not opposed to questing or instanced content. I just don't want to see FFXIV go the way of quest hubs that carry you from zone to zone in an ultra linear fashion, using super instanced "worlds" to segregate player populations into units of 50.

If the dev's can learn not only from their mistakes, but the mistakes of Blizzard and others, this will be a great game.

If Square can take a cue from Ultima Online (and Skyrim) in regards to player housing, they'll have my money for a very long time.

And please, please, please don't make this game into WoW with a Final Fantasy skin. We have enough WoW clones as it is, and that isn't entirely a good thing.

Seriously I think so much will be addressed by 2.0 that if ppl would be willing to let amnesia step in after 2.0 launches all will be well.
However, I know this will most likely not be the case.

Too many people want to treat SE like the girlfriend that cheated on her boyfriend when she was 16 but has been faithful to her husband for 40 years like a slut because of an earlier mistake.

Why do all the sandboxers come to FFXIV thinking it will accommodate their tastes? Sandbox will not come. If anything FFXIV will be more like WoW or SWTOR. If you are looking for SWG, I don't think you will find it here.

I enjoyed your labeling me as a sandboxer haha. I always felt that the crafting system in this game, i.e. at least at one point in time basically every time in the game was combined to make some other item into (pointless) iterations ad nauseum gave some small amount of sandboxy feeling to crafting and items. Throw in the ability to build a house (not instanced.. worst case make an island where we put them) some furniture (hello carpenter), give us the ability to build a boat, and so on, and wala, you have sandboxpark.

People that don't want to craft don't have to. People that don't want to build boats don't have to. People that don't want to build a house don't have to. Guilds that don't want to build guild halls and have siege war fare, don't have to.

Thats the point. Sandboxpark. They would still produce the pve content. The dungeons. The raids (this game doesn't have a legitimate raid at this point in time, no darkhold is not a raid) etc..
