It's for your Grand Company Squadron ONLY. It doesn't affect your own character's leveling, but just your Squadron members with exp and leveling. And you don't think this will be added to? That this is the initial introduction? Of course they where going to introduce this with a limited number. That's how introductions work.
Then - when 'I only want me online' players say it's a great idea in an mmo - this hermit style of playing gets expanded.
This is an mmo - it's meant to be played with your fellow players - not some automated bunch of npc bots.
This is the thin end of the wedge, showing the devs thinking direction. It's the first stage of an idea that shouldn't be anywhere near an mmo. You and no one else in a group - absolutely ideal for a single player game.
I fear the next step will be 'we have expanded the squadron groups to xxxxx content'. That's the thing about thin end of wedges - they get bigger, and by then it is too late to change direction.
Irrespective of the current limitations of the idea, it ends up with players in complete isolation grouping entirely with npc bots. It shows a thinking direction which shouldn't be anywhere near an mmorpg.

Have you not done anything for your Grand Company? When unlocking your Squadron, you are such a high rank that you are a commanding officer. You are given a duty to have underlings that you have to train. The more they get stronger, you will achieve your next military rank. It's the only way to progress in the Grand Company. Have you no idea on how militaries work? This is the thin end of the wedge, showing the devs thinking direction. It's the first stage of an idea that shouldn't be anywhere near an mmo. Then I guess you would be pitching a fit if you played FFXI, because of Trust NPCs you can summon with your own character that are AI controlled. It's basically the same thing. It's supposed to be a fun activity. No one is forcing you to do that. You're making a big deal out of it like you have your dinner plate and all of your food is touching each other.
I can't wait for them to be implemented in Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium. Indeed, I hope once the AI is trained enough, SE change Castrum/Prae to solo duties, in which you take 7 adventurer squadrons with you (as in, not your own Squadron, but a group of AI squadrons provided by the GC to assist you, not for you to train yourself). Those 2 dungeons are a hot mess, a sign of a design decision that failed on SE, and thus need to be dealt with. Convert them to solo instances, remove the MS Roulette, perhaps add a way to replay previously completed solo duties (restrictions to enter said duty will still apply), and bob's your uncle. This is the thin end of the wedge, showing the devs thinking direction. White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Paladinleeds - it will all be good until your squadron kicks you for inefficiency
