So almost everybody here knows about the one-time chance to edit character appearence/gender/race coming with v2.0, so I'd like to spend some words on the character creation since basically everyone is going to be involved (of course all the new players too).
The current character creation feature is just like any other one on the avarage mmorpg or just rpg. You can edit skin, shape, face features, voice, hair/hairstyle and so on, which is great.
Problem is that with such high number of customizable details (wich I personally love) you miss the big picture of how your character is really going to look like when put in the game world.
I may give two simple scenarios as example:
1. I create a cute looking and graceful character and everything looks ok but when I equip a sword for the first time in the game he wields it like a viking axe.
2. I create a blonde and tall character etc. but when I start to play in the actual world I realize that game lights make his hair looking like cinder and the height size is too tall compared to buildings for my likings.
I'm pretty sure many people experienced these and many other kind of situations where you wish you could go back to character creation.
Of course you can't expect to have a magic button that makes you edit the whole character from zero whenever you don't feel satisfied with the look, so what I suggest is to add final feature at the end of character creation steps being able to go back and change/adjust all the details you need to:
That would be a "testing" mode where you can see your character in action (and use it) in a small istanced area, a sort of little playground/sandbox where to see how your character look like in a game environment, how does he look like with his animations (maybe give him some wooden weapons in a temp inventory and so on to give the player the chance to "feel" his/her alterego a little more alive. This would certainly increase the chances to make a successful and more satisfying creation.
