    They just never work, they're underwhelming and only good in the best of situations and completely uneeded in most situations.

    not the case in FFXI at all. they were too good. rdm and bard (and later corsair and geomancer) were some of the most requested jobs in the history of the game. bard being the best. if you played bard you basicly had to set yourself on do not disturb or people would ask you all day to come do stuff.
