    Open World needs more content

    Hello I have been playing since beta on PlayStation 3, and I have been getting real bored lately with how little open world content there is. Seems like everything that's introduced is for end game/raiding or trials etc. It's becoming an instance only game. I feel like adding big maps like azim steppe if once we reach max level we just stay in one spot and queue for everything. Feels like all I'm doing in this game is queueing up for everything. There needs to be fun stuff you can do in open world like farming mobs for gil or rare drops even leveling if you don't feel like doing dungeons. The open world mobs are pointless. Yes this game is a mmo but lately it feels like just a small game for a mmo. I just wish there was farming we can do with the pointless mobs in the open world. Maybe from leveling or gil making or rare drops etc.

    There are some other contents, like hunts and maps... But maps eventually leads to instances tho. Yes, maybe we could use a revamp on the open world content.

    I only run dungeons when I absolutely have to and limit myself to those I am comfortable with. My issue is that when you make a new job char, there are no quests to do sans the class one and so I end up putting it aside. Hunt and map quests don't cut it when trying to level a job char without dungeon spamming.

    The issue for leveling is that dungeons give so much more xp than grinding mobs. Usually in mmos you end up killing huge amounts of random mobs to grind out levels, here you run huge amounts of dungeons.
    The only ones you see out in the open world are gatherers and the occasional fate grinder.

    i agree. grinding mobs gives no exp at all. its a shame really. fate grinding is boring too. normalize exp so fate grinding, dungeon grinding and random mob grinding gives similar exp please.

    Never again. Mob killing is a dumb way to level and should never blight MMO shores again.

    it should be an option. just because you don't like it doesnt mean it shouldnt happen. it just shouldnt be the ONLY option to level. mob killing being a viable way to level in no way makes any other option less valid.

    Tell me something. Do you know what "path of least resistance" means? Lets say, theoretically, that world mobs give similar exp to other leveling methods at overworld mobs current power level. Why in hell would anyone do anything else? Just brainlessly kill mobs to max level. And if you thought POTD leveling didn't teach you how your job works or party dynamics hoo boy would you in for a treat. But there I go again. Expecting people to not see their ideas outside a vacuum.

    Grinding mobs has never been fun. We only did it back in the day because it was the only choice we had.

    While I agree there's not much to the open world outside of gathering, it would be hard to balance these things XP wise.

    With the way this game is set up, there's not much you can put out there in the open world that wouldn't fall to the waste-side quickly.

    For me this is due to the item level progression and how fast it adjusts. We are no longer in the times where we go fight a single mob that takes a minute or two gives a chunk if XP. We're now at a point where we fight groups, and mow them down in dungeons and get a chunk of XP from there.

    I would say maybe put open world content that can help you get items for certain levels or crafting materials. But we're so saturated already with gear / mats that quickly get out-dated that it would just add more to the problem than solution.

    I was a bit sad when they took away drops from NM's that got turned into FATES. If anything, maybe they could create instances that can be completed with a party and done weekly. But what? If you make it another run fight X mobs, it's just a dungeon. No idea on my end. Everything I imagine just gets thrown out quickly.

So in that way it's perfect. Fates give decent enough xp for me and hunts can be alot of fun. with friends. Heck I've been finishing up the HW beast tribes and the XP from that while not amazing has been just enough to boost my dps classes. But I mean there's alot of side quests to do as well. Yes eventually you'll run out of stuff to do, but that happens in any game. That's when you take a break and come back later!
