Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

vets don't lose anything out of this you keep everything, even your achievement points that is needed to get the items now since you already have them all.

while i am not against free stuff it certainly isn't some huge slap to anyone who has subbed for a long time, it simply helps people who want glamour that unlike the rest of the stuff in the game has stayed behind a huge gate that never budged. not only that it also technically hurts new players since they don't naturally get the items even if the cost isn't high its still less then what the vets get in the end.

12 Years of World of Warcraft (would have been thirteen years this November 24,2017) taught me one thing, "Do not Expect Anything" for playing a game. If you like the game, stay subscribed and manage to get a few rewards in the process that's great, if not oh well.

Waited a long time for the Cloud outfit and all that matters to me is that I have it. If someone can get it much sooner than I was able to then oh well since its not like waiting for time to pass by was hard work.

As vets, I don't see any problem with this. We already have our rewards, so we're not really disadvantaged by this - it's not like we paid exclusively just to get these items anyway.
If anything, I think the bigger issue would be the region-exclusive promotions which actually do prevent certain players from getting anything out of it.

I personally don't mind the change, since it allows newer players to feel like they will get to enjoy the rewards sooner; ironically I just got Zidane's outfit, lol. But I do feel like the older players should get "something" for being invested for that amount of time. Now that doesn't have to be anything major or completely exclusive. I'm not asking for a legacy tattoo; though tattoos in general would be nice, XD. Like maybe if you had a subscription prior to [DATE] and were subscribed for at least [#] days, non-consecutively, you get like 50 Aetheryte Tickets, or some Chocobo Feathers (for Dye most likely), or some Allagan coins or MGP Tickets, things not so hard to get but that are a slight thank you for those of us who have put in the time already.

As a veteran, I think this change is very nice. It welcomes the new players and gives them more reasons to resub. I have enough reasons for resubbing, myself, and they never were the rewards anyway.

As someone who has been subbed since 1.0 this doesn't bother me at all.

I liked the fact that your alts got the rewards too automatically. Sucks that any new alts won't get these rewards anymore.

Not sure if anyone has addressed this yet, but actually new alts will still get the rewards. It says at the bottom of the page explaining the new veteran rewards system:

Newly created characters on the same account will continue to receive any items for which they were eligible prior to the update.

Anyway, I'm torn on this myself. It is kind of cool to have a little something to show for the fact that you've been subbed for a long time. However, I think that the time was quite ridiculous and the items chosen for it were bound to create some issues. I mean, cosplay items for popular ff characters? Of course a lot of people are going to want that and it'll feel pretty bad to have to wait several years just to get them.

I think it was a smart move, even though I'm a bit sad. Someone may really want the Squall set but having to wait 4 years for it...?? Most people who are just starting the game may wonder if they'll even still play it in 4 years. So the incentive to continuing subbing when the reward is so far away is lost. However, if it only takes a year of sub time it feels much more obtainable and therefore people will likely feel more incentive to continue playing. For example, I would really like the title "Honest Gillionaire" but it requires you to get 10 MILLION gil from levequests alone. I've raked in over 300k. If the aim was just 1 million, then I would pursue it. But 10 million??? Possible, but jeez. No thanks. It feels too out of reach. I imagine it must feel the same for those who have to wait 4 years for one glamour that they really want. Luckily for us who have been around, we didn't have to wait that long since we were here already when it was introduced, so consider how you would have felt if you knew the reward was there but had to wait 4 years to get it...? :/

Not to mention the issue which has already been mentioned a lot of how long the game will even survive. Sure, maybe people already playing will be ok. Maybe. But what about those who join at the next expansion? Or later..?
