I can see the boring aspect as it is not complex at all but myself i enjoy the simplicity.
Having played blm for 4 years and not really getting recognition for the higher dps i wanted something more relaxed as life has been stressful also.
Because of the utility (also the fact that i saved groups from wipes many of times) i have felt it satisfying and feel more appreciated then i did when playing blm.

Fun is subjective, compared to the other classes, alot of players (myself included) find the Red Mage an easy to pick up and play type of class. Aside from the Verholy/Verflare (finisher after the sword combo) and Impact a combo skill for Jolt, RDM plays the same at level 64 as at 70, so if a level 64 RDM is boring to you, then I think a level 70 RDM will be boring aswell.

I think it would be more fun if some of the spells, especially verflare/holy, had a more visual and audible impact. I don't even know what those 2 sound like, because even background music drowns them out and their visuals are so tiny.

Unlike Fire IV which is very satisfying to cast, and you can't spell deathflare without flair. Impact is about the only spell that makes an impact? :P

No, it's just as boring at 70.

The things that keep Black Mage up at night are non-issues for red mage. In fact, Red Mage has very little to worry about other than just remembering that if one of his/her spells has an orange outline then they should consider using that at some point, and that they might want to use their mana gauge instead of just sitting on it.

As someone who mained RDM in ffxi for years and someone who has loved rdm in every iteration from ff1+ I burned it up to 60 at SB release and used it to play through the storyline and was severely disappointed with it. I hoped it would change, but it never did. It's very unfulfilling as far as jobs go in XIV. I play blm now and made the choice to do brd on my alt instead.

It's basically a boring caster with a physical combo that is flashy but so simple you can macro it and forget it.

They are seriously starting to simplify these jobs way to much. Over simplification is sometimes worse than over complication. It feels like pretty soon we will just be tapping 1 button repeatedly.

I think that's the issue, too, aside from being very simple to play. All Black Mage does most of the time is stand still and cast Fire IV which sounds simple but the spell is appealing and impactful so it feels satisfying to use.
Meanwhile not even Verflare or Verholy (at least in audible impact) are appealing.

Impact needs to replace Jolt when it procs. Waste of a button. I agree Verflare/Holy need more audible impact.
