Its nice to see one out so quickly after everything thats been going on, and to hear that the SE team are all well, albeit that some have family in the danger zone, our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

What do you think, much excitement over the announcement of Grand (formerly: Public) Companies.

I had intended to announce this in a future letter, but we will release information regarding the Grand Companies of Eorzea (what were referred to as “public companies” in previous posts) just before patch 1.17 goes live. We are currently readying a page dedicated to this exciting new feature, and hope to have it up on the Lodestone shortly

We'll have to wait and see.

The work ethic displayed by SE in the wake of this tragedy leaves me awestruck. I commend the entire team on their efforts and continue to pray for their safety and the safety of their loved ones.

There is no solid explanation as of now. Thus the announcement that information will be released.
From what I've heard it is another "revolutionary" game mechanic that will alter how we play involving many linkshells and possibly player requested quests. Like guild leves that a player/players will make to accomplish something and offer the participants a reward for helping. This is speculation though and I really have no idea.

If Yoshi-P is really excited about it, it must be good (considering he has had to rework everything Tanaka did).

So the French have retreated!
That short post managed to establish priorities that are due, estimate the delay the setback will cause, exactly why it caused a setback, and what's on deck. He's really good at this. I do kind of miss Tanaka's angry I-hate-you-all-shut-up-shut-up-shut-up comments that Komoto often had to intervene on to soften though.

Not sure about public companies. Kind of got lost in all the new updates. Something about large cakes and player quarters.

I think it's admirable he took the time to submit another letter amidst what's taking place there. I'd like to think I speak for most of us when I say we appreciate it, however, we'd understand if they delayed anything regarding the game for a while and concentrate on their families and their country's welfare.

Good to see they are ok and still have the dedication to keep working on this. Nothing but respect for Square Enix.
