    I get what you're saying, but it's different in that this game was meant to be played cross-platform, whereas if I made the mistake of purchasing the Wii U version of a game like Breath of the Wild and later decide I wanted it on the Switch, that would seem like a terrible lapse in judgment on my part. I don't mean to sound like an entitled prick, hence why I've used Final Fantasy XI as a case in point where that one-code/all platform policy was the norm. I understand that FFXI =/= FFXIV, but you would think that owning an expansion to the game would be universally accepted across all platforms registered to a single service account, especially when you consider that we're talking about the same company here in both instances--or I can accept that maybe I'm just used to FFXI being set as the standard by which this game should really be held against.
