    I'm not necessarily stomping my foot for a raise, but it holds true that BLM is the only Disciple of Magic in the whole game that has no access to raise.
    The main argument is the playstyle anyway. If I have to raise I have to stop dps, if I stop dps I lose enochian, I lose umbral hearts, I probably also have to sacrifice swiftcast (not an oh-shit button as many think btw, but part of the rotation, always on cd), I lose the only thing I bring to the party, damage. Hell even having to manashift is annoying. Blm was designed as a selfish dps, it doesn't sacrifice all that dmg for raising.

    if I was put in charge of implementing a raise for BLM, I'd make it a free 180 second recast off-gcd. That solves the infinite MP problem, the wasted GCD problem, the burning swiftcast problem, and the balance problem all at the same time.

    The class doesn't need to be a rez dispenser like RDM, it just has to have something to let it be balanced on that front. They could even fit it into the lore by calling it some kind of shadow raise or void raise or something and making a story around it. Y'all who think it makes no sense have no imagination.

    I'd rather prefer death to be a burden than a minor setback in fact I would instead increase MP costs of all ress by at least 50% while also making ress sickness be a static 50% main stat penalty, maybe just me

    Why ask for utility so much? They can make BLM more balanced by actually giving it absurds amount of damage. It won't be broken if they do so because buff stacking of meta comps will most likely still be better. I just don't want to keep playing a pure damage job if they do less than jobs that aren't based on pure damage.

    As for Raise, BLM doesn't need that. Raise on DPS jobs is dumb to begin with, it was ok on SMN for ARR and Heavensward because they could barely cast it and keep MP to deal damage. Now SMNs can do it freely and RDM is a raise gatling gun. If this game barely requires any consistent heal spam why even give the burden of raising to DPS jobs again. Plus raise starts becoming useless once the group is doing the fight consistently well. But then why be a BLM if I don't do decent damage?

    I want utility on the class because raw damage will never be stronger than damage+utility when the utility makes for higher damage than the raw damage. In short, no amount of raw damage would ever be stronger than damage+utility unless it is SIGNIFICANTLY higher.

    The raise that I proposed would still be a welcome addition purely to be fair, since every single other DoM has it.

    Side note, with sub-optimal melds and the 320 susano book I was able to do more damage in savage on SMN on my FIRST TIME IN THERE than I've yet to do on BLM on both v1s and v3s (v2s I had a death).

    You're full 340 (excluding the genji book you just got). Of course you're going to do a lot of damage. I get 90th+ parses too on my 320 weapon blm (with sub-optimal melds). BLM doesn't need a res. It needs be a job that does as advertised. It needs to bring extremely high dps in exchange for utility. Even if BLM had a rez, as you proposed, you'd still pick SMN because having a garbage 3min rez doesn't change the fact that SMN out-performs BLM in every category.

    An idea that was proposed in my Free Company would be a way to not only diversify the arsenal of Black Mage, but also improve its DPS by implmenting a burst. I present to you, Convergence (named after the Bravely Default ability of similar name and purpose).

    Convergence
    Type: Ability
    Cast: Instant
    Recast: 120s
    Range: Self

    Prevents the usage of Enochian, and compresses Area of Effect spells into single target spells with the following changes:
    Blizzard II: 200 Potency
    Fire II: 320 Potency
    Freeze: 400 Potency
    Thunder IV: 200 Potency + 120 potency over time. Duration: 18s. Does not have a chance of triggering Thundercloud and cannot be refreshed.
    Flare: 805 Potency, and ends the effects of Convergence.

    In addition, the description to Enhanced Enochian is changed to the following: "Grants the effect of Polyglot upon maintaining Enochian for 30 seconds. Upon the application of Polyglot, decreases the recast of Convergence by 10s. Also improves Enochian's magic damage increase to 10%."

    Increasing the damage of BLM to offset its lack of utility should be seen as the best way forward... though, I presume the usefulness of BLM will also showcase itself as we gain more crit and Spell Speed.

    While I like the spell, I don't see how it would make the BLM arsenal more diversified. To me it is just a hidden "increase your spell rank to V for 20sec" on a ~80sec CD.

    While it feels inevitable and I would much prefer that to an actual rank increase (because let's face it, rank increase are cool ' for visual but that's about it in most case)
    I really don't see what it would change from a rotation. You'll still go dot, fire as much as u can, ice3, wait for regenerate while doing dot / blizzard, fire 3, fire (5?) as much as u can.
    It also doesn't line up very well with leyline CD.

    However, one thing I'd love is the removal of fire1. Shooting that fart spark annoys me (just visually)

    While we're at it, let's give the melee a raise too! If all casters get a raise, they'd be the only dps without one, purely to be fair.

    Oh and if we do that, let's give the tanks a raise, so they don't feel left out.
