As of this writing, part of the Aetherpact tooltip for Scholar is... ambiguously worded and implies non-existent functionality:

The Faerie Gauge is increased when a faerie is summoned and an Aetherflow action is successfully executed.

This implies that if you summon a faerie or use an Aetherflow action (at any time), the gauge could increase, which is not correct. It only happens during combat and only by using an Aetherflow action; faerie summoning doesn't directly increase it. My suggestion is changing the wording as follows, to remove any ambiguity as well as to clearly explain the two restrictions:

The Faerie Gauge is increased when an Aetherflow action is successfully executed during combat while a faerie is summoned.

English is not my native language but I disagree with your interpretation that summoning a faerie makes the gauge increase. I would understand the same if the wording were

The Faerie Gauge is increased when a faerie is summoned or an Aetherflow action is successfully executed.

But an "and" is used, not an "or".

"In/during combat" should be added though, as it is in the description in the other three languages.

I have to agree with Yasminou here.

Meaning the faerie has to be summoned first, and any Aetherflow action done while it's summoned adds to the gauge.

the keyword of course is "and an" meaning both, not ether/or.

I main SCH and I had to think a little before knowing what the tooltip meant at first when I first saw the skill after SB (yes English isn't my native language also).
But from the looks of it, I think dvoraen's rephrased suggestion is much easier to understand right off the bat of glancing at the tooltip.
It states the usage simple and right there without having to think about and/or issue.
