Name your Relic weapon!

I would make sure to go use my boyfriend's computer and name his SCH relic "Fairy Princess" if I had the chance....just to make him rage xD

I thought that too! Bob should be the default name for every relic.

But, if that ends up not being the case, I have a few other names I'd like to use.

1. Wigglesworth. "I got my Wigglesworth. Have you?"
2. Pretty Stick. "Look at my Pretty Stick! I have other sticks but this one is Pretty!"
3. Special Thing. "Hey everyone. Have you seen my Special Thing? Well, it's shiny and Special and about yay long and yay wide. If you see my Special Thing, please let me know."

I would be ok with that if they give us a selection of words similar to naming your chocobo for the gold saucer.

Don't get too attached to your weapon. In ARR we created our own, personal, sentient weapon, a partner to go with us through fire, in HW it was discarded to skip the first grindy step towards a new personal, sentient weapon to go with us through everything...til SB where I assume it will be discarded again to skip a step in a grindy quest to forge a new personal, sentient weapon to go with us...wait...?

If I was a sentient weapon, I'd take issue with this.

I think the naming from a list of pre-approved words would be best. Sure it restricts creativity a little but as other people have said.. I don't need to see someone brandishing the "Floppy Wang". I'm sure people will come up with just as creative combinations from the preselected words, but there'll be some control at least. I support this idea =]

We already get to name our chocobos and those are not all running around called "myhugecock", plus there is already the rules in place for not being allowed to include inappropriate speech in names.

...maybe on YOUR server you haven't seen those names. I'll tell you I've seen enough variations to rethink giving players free reign on names.

If anything it makes people more creative to combat the limitations. The words "meat" and "beater" are both fine on their own, but if I was wield a sword called "the meat beater" then I may get a few wandering eyes my way.
